2010 Markel Insurance National Points Championship
Brand new for the 2010 Fishers of Men tournament season is a new way to win $10,000!
One Fishers of Men Team Series team will win a check for $10,000 when they become the 2010 Markel Insurance National Points Champions at the end of the Regional Championship Season this fall. The runner up team will earn a check for $5,000.
To be eligible to win one of these prizes all you have to do is; get a boat insurance quote from Markel Insurance
prior to competing in your second tournament, and then compete in at least 5 Fishers of Men Team Series tournaments with 30 or more competing teams.
You can compete in as many tournaments and divisions as you like and keep your five highest scores.
In addition, points will be awarded at the Regional Championships this fall. These points will be added to your regular season best 5 finishes for your final points total.
After all of the Regional Championships are complete, the scores will be tallied and the first ever Markel Insurance National Points Champions will be crowned.

2010 Markel Insurance National Points Championship Rules
1. The Markel Insurance National Points Championship competition is open to all Fishers of Men members who meet all of the eligibility requirements, listed below.
2. Teams may earn points for the Markel Insurance National Points Championship competition in Fishers of Men team series divisional tournaments and Fishers of Men team series Regional Championship tournaments.
3. Points in divisional tournaments will be awarded as described in the 2010 official Fishers of Men tournament rules.
4. Only points earned in tournaments with a field of 30 or more competing teams can be used as a part of a team’s points total in the Markel Insurance National Points Championship competition.
5. Only points earned while both original partners are competing will count as a part of a team’s points total. Points earned while using a legal sub or fishing solo cannot be used as part of your points in the Markel Insurance National Points Championship competition.
6. Teams may use the points earned in their five highest divisional finishes from any division or combination of divisions.
7. There is no limit on how many divisional events a team can compete in to achieve a higher score with their best five tournaments.
8. Points in Regional Championship tournaments will be awarded as follows; 1st place-200 points, 2nd place-199 points, 3rd place-198 points, etc. IN THE CASE OF A COMBINED REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, ONLY ONE SET OF POINTS WILL BE AWARDED.
9. In the event that a team competes in more than one Regional Championship, only one of their Regional Championship scores, the highest, will count towards their total.
10. A team’s Markel Insurance National Points Championship score will be the sum of the points they earn in their best five divisional tournament finishes (in divisional tournaments of 30 or more competing teams) and their (best) Regional Championship score.
11. The Markel Insurance National Points Championship will be awarded to the team who has the highest points total after the conclusion of Regional Championship tournaments. They will receive checks totaling $10,000. The team that finishes second in the competition will receive checks totaling $5,000.
12. In the event of a tie for first place, all tying teams will be declared co-champions and the total $15,000 will be evenly split among them. The total of the prizes paid out for the Markel Insurance National Points Championship program will be $15,000.
2010 Markel Insurance National Points Championship Eligibility
To be eligible to win the Markel Insurance National Points Championship you must:
13. Compete in at least 3 Fishers of Men Team Series divisional tournaments within one division.
14. Compete in at least 5 Fishers of Men Team Series divisional tournaments with 30 or more competing teams in any division or combination of divisions.
15. Get a Markel Boat Insurance quote or be a Markel Boat Insurance policy holder prior to the second tournament included in your best five. (At least one partner)
16. Accumulate tournament points from your team’s best five finishes in divisional tournaments of 30 or more competing teams, in any team series division or combination of team series divisions.
17. Compete in the above five tournaments with the same partner.
18. Earn points in your respective Regional Championship to be added to your divisional tournament points total.
19. Submit your team’s five best scores along with the division(s) in which they were earned and the dates of those events on your Regional Championship entry form.
