Fishers Of Men Florida North Members win the FLW College Fishing National Championship

The Fishers of Men would like to congratulate two of its own for winning the first annual National Guard FLW College National Championship.
Florida North members, Jake Gipson and Matt Wercinski, representing University of Florida’s, Gators Bass Fishing Club, took top honors and $100.000.00 in cash and prizes at the first annual National Guard FLW College National Championship held April 10- 12th on Fort Loudon Lake near Knoxville, TN. Jake, who works part-time for Florida Fish and Wildlife Service, is a senior at the University of Florida, where he is studying to be an Industrial and Systems Engineer. The Niceville, FL young man stated that he and Matt chartered the Gators Fishing Club last year and now have thirty members.
The Gators Bass Club competed in four qualifying tournaments throughout the southeast last year, along with teams from schools in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. Through these four events, Matt and Jake, along with 19 other top teams throughout their region, moved on to the Southeast Regional Championship. Jake and Matt have now earned a privilege to fish in the 2010 FLW Championship in August at Lake Lanier, Atlanta GA, where Jake has a chance to earn $100,000.00 as an Angler, and Matt, $50,000.00 as a Co-angler.

Although Jake and Matt are paired together in the Gators Bass Club, when they compete in FOM North Florida Division tournaments, Jake has yoked up with fellow classmate and Gators Bass Club member, Andy Adkins, where they currently hold second place in the Division Points Standings. Matt is partnered up with Jake’s father, Mike Gipson. We look forward to seeing all of them this fall at the FOM Southeast Regional Championship.
