Sat. Nov. 12, 2011 Silver Springs, FL… We want to congratulate Daniel Lanier and John Kremer for a fine win in the 2011 South East Regional Championship held this past Friday and Saturday on a national favorite, Rodman Reservoir, near Interlachen, Florida. John and Daniel’s tournament weight was boosted up to 41.61 lbs with the astounding 23.64 lbs limit that they brought in today. The new South East Region Champs received a brand new 2012 Skeeter TZX-190, 150hp Yamaha VMAX package valued at more than $26,000.00 and a $500.00 Power-Pole gift certificate, along with championship plaques, and a good share of Bonus Bucks money.
John and Daniel locked through each day and headed up toward the Lake George area where they had 15 areas along the river that they would explore. Working junebug-colored, Culprit T-Rex Worms proved very successful in the river-current-breaks, over sand and shell-hardened bottoms, in 4 to 6 feet of water.
Finishing the event in second place with 36.35 lbs are Larry Bullock and Roger Caldwell. The Alabama South boys chose Tennessee Shad colored Bomber Fat-Free Shads and Zoom red-bug Trick worms to work 6 to 8 foot depths along the eddy currents downstream from sandbars in the river to net 22.20 on Day-1 and 14.15 today.
Neil Davis and Donald Fisher locked through and worked the river from Palatka up to Little Lake George with carolina-rigged Warrior Baits finesse worms until midday, then lock back into Rodman and flip a Warrior Baits Quiver Bugs in and around hydrilla and water hyacinths. The Florida Central teammates boated 15.31 on Day 1 and 11.93 today for 27.24 lbs and a 3rd place finish.
Taking home 4th place with 23.95 lbs are Alabama Central partners, Ashley Watson and Hubble Sowards. Ashley and Hubble traveled down to the third channel marker and headed to the south side of the lake and cast Strike King KVD Spring Craw colored 2.5’s in and through pockets of hydrilla to net 12.32 on Day 1 and 11.63 today. Ash and Hub want to thank their sponsors Coastal Cotton and CMT.
Rounding out the top five is Jason Hopper and Eric Hutchenson with 23.82 lbs. The Alabama Central boys fished 6 areas of shoreline junk across the lake from the ramp with Reaction Innovations creature baits. By punching down through the wind-blown hyacinth mats onto the log-strewn bottom in 3 feet of water, Jason and Eric boated
14.40 and 9.42, respectively.
The Day-2, $300.00, 1st Big Fish Award went to Glen Key and his Florida Central partner, David Underwood for their 6.71 lbs brute.
Matthew and Terry Goheen, South Carolina Lowcountry, earned $200.00 for their 6.30 lbs, Day-2, 2nd Big Fish that fell for a Brush Hog.
Day Two saw weights down slightly still, due to the post-frontal conditions. 189 bass went over the scales today weighing 385.56 lbs, for a tournament total of 417 bass, at 812.77 lbs.
Teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, besieged Silver Springs and Ocala this week as a result of rising to the top of their respective divisions thru five qualifying events that were held this past spring and summer, thus earning them the honor to compete in this year’s South East Regional Championship.
