McCord and Strickland Claim Markel National Points Title
The team of Stephen McCord and Steve Strickland claimed the Fishers of Men 2011 Markel National Points title in the final event of the year at the Southeast Regional Championship on Rodman Reservoir in Florida. By virtue of their 11th place finish at the Regional coupled with strong consistent finishes throughout the year in their home Division in South Georgia, Stephen and Steve were able to accumulate the most points in the Nation and claim the Markel National Points title and the accompanying $5000 first place award.
Finishing second was the North Carolina Central team of Tony Barham and Rick Ohlson who finished strong by winning the East Regional Championship and claiming a new Skeeter/Yamaha rig to put the finishing touches on another outstanding season for the always tough team from the Tar Heel state. For their runner-up finish Tony and Rick earned $2000.
