Day 2 of the 2012 Stren Team Series $125,000.00 Pickwick Lake National Championship
2012 Fishers Of Men NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
PRESENTED BY PFLUEGER
With another intense day of post-frontal warming water and air temperatures, many competitors experienced great success while others struggled to put together a working pattern for netting the large bass that swim in the deep clear waters of Pickwick’s 43,000 acres. 543 fish crossed the scales today, weighing 1368.71 lbs, including 105, 5-fish limits, thus giving a 2-day total of 1176 bass, weighing nearly 3000 lbs. We are looking forward to Saturday’s battle among the 26 skilled teams who made the top 20 percent in order to get the privilege to participate in Saturday's battle for a share of the $125,000.00 payout in cash and prizes on the final day of the $125,000.00 Stren Team Series National Championship
Brian Jordan and Mike Smith will be going into Saturday's final day with consistent catches of 22.69 and 20.40 lbs. Competition, I suspect, will be fierce tomorrow as five new teams broke into the top 10 today. However, they will have to overcome Brian and Mike’s massive six pound lead. Although, in competitive fishing six pounds is only one fish.
Moving up to second from 8th with 37.11 lbs are AL-NW veterans, Chase and Bryan Reeves.
Following close behind and in third place, with 36.14 lbs, are Chris Hunt and Bee Patrick, AL-NW. Chris and Bee vaulted 10 places up from 13th by netting 17.12 lbs on Day 1, and 19.02 today.
Also, Jeff Francis and his fellow Virginia East teammate Brent Hattan, leaped all the way up to 4th from the 19th slot. Brent and Jeff hauled in 16.25 and 19.73, respectively, for a 2-day total of 35.98 lbs.
VA-W competitors, Nathan Alt and Jeff Camp are resting in 5th with 35.88.
The Day 2, $500.00, 1st Big Fish Award went to Nick and Mike Thompson, Georgia North Div., for their 7.32 lbs big green leviathan and the Day 2, $250.00, 2nd Big Fish Award went to Texas North-Central boys, Scott Jenkins and Robby Leach, for their 6.97 lbs brute.
The field has now been set for the third and final day of competition. 26 teams will blastoff Saturday morning, all knowing that they are guaranteed at least a $1000.00, but striving for a good solid limit that includes a couple of really big kickers in order to clench the victory and earn the 2012 Skeeter FX 21, Yamaha 250-SHO 4-stroke combo that is valued at nearly $72,000.00 and the title of 2012 Fishers of Men National Champions.
