About This Division
Welcome to Virginia East “Legacy Series”! Our division is committed to introducing youth, “Our Next Generation”, to competitive bass fishing in a family-oriented environment unlike any other. Come experience the excitement, the thrill, the inspiration and cherish the memories that last a life time. We offer many additional Bonus, Prizes and Awards in addition to everything the national organization has to offer.
Our 2009 season was another exciting year, where participants won over $3,000 in retail value of merchandise at our events. Averaging a 30 boat field per tournament VA-East Legacy was awarded the Fishers of Men “Gold Excellence Award” for 2009. We thank all the teams participating and look forward to continued growth in 2010.

VA-East Legacy Youth Angler of the Year.
To participate, a team must consist of one angler who has reached his/her 19th birthday before Sept 10th, 2010 and one angler who has not reached his/her birthday before Sept 10th 2010. To register, complete the Legacy member application on the National website and mail to the VA – East Legacy directors address listed on the divisional page. Additional Legacy membership information can be found on the Legacy Home page on the National website. We will be accepting memberships starting January 1, 2009 and would like to extend an invitation to join us this season where young anglers and their adult partners continue to compete in professional team trail tournaments.
Exciting News from the National Office; In 2010 Fishers of Men will conduct 1 Legacy Championship event and recognize the Division Points Champions at the pre-tournament meeting. More “Legacy Series” news and tournament rules can be found National website.

”NEW” and RETURNING for 2010 VA EAST LEGACY SERIES DIVISIONAL INCENTIVES These bonuses, prizes and awards are exclusive to the 2009 season of the VA East Division "Legacy Series". They have been set up to provide our participants additional recognition and prizes above and beyond the national program. They have also been set up to reward regular team participation, timely payment of tournament fees and to minimize tournament penalties. Please remember that if you become ineligible to receive any of them you still have the opportunity to receive all the benefits of the national “Legacy” program and you are not being penalized in any manner. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, products of similar value may be substituted for the advertised prizes and awards. In all cases, the winning teams or individuals are responsible for collecting trophies and any prizes. Pending seasonal sponsorships additional awards and prizes may come available. Interpretation of these rules and restrictions will be left exclusively to the VA East Division Legacy Director and all decisions made will be final in all matters. Divisional Points Champions
This award has been set up to recognize the highest placing adult and youth team in the year-end points standings. The winning team will receive plaques from our National Headquarters to commemorate this accomplishment. This award has been set up to recognize the highest placing adult and youth team in the year-end point’s standings. The winning Youth will receive plaque to commemorate this accomplishment. To be eligible for this year-end highest cumulative point’s award, please see the Legacy National Rules for details.
Joseph Thomson Memorial Scholarship Award.
The family of Paul, Sara and Clark Thomson will be awarding a $250 scholarship and plaque in memory of their son “Joseph Thomson”. This award has been set up to recognize the highest placing youth in the Divisional Champions Award.
‘Just Out of the Money’ Consolation Prize. Sponsored by: HarmoniX Rods

This “Just Out of The Money” consolation prize will be awarded to the team who places one place out of the money for each regular season tournament. This prize will be 1 HarmoniX bait casting rod valued at approximately $80 total retail value. To be eligible, at least one fish of legal size must be weighed in and the team cannot place in the money for the tournament. In addition, both team members must have attended the Friday night pre-tournament meeting and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by the entry deadline (8 days prior to the tournament). Also, both team members must attend the following tournament's Friday night pre-tournament meeting (where the refund will be awarded) and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by that tournament's entry deadline. Participants fishing solo, fishing with a substitute partner, paying late or receiving any tournament penalties are not eligible. In the event of a tie a winner will be chosen by random drawing. If a team is eligible to win both the just out of the money and the last place consolation prizes, they can choose between the two. For the last regular season tournament, the prizes will be awarded at that tournament with similar participation requirements from the previous meeting and tournament having been met.
‘One That Got Away’ Consolation Prize. Sponsored by: HarmoniX Rods

This “One That Got Away” consolation prize will be awarded through a drawing to the team / teams that did not weigh-in a legal fish for each regular season tournament. This prize will be 1 HarmoniX spin casting rod valued at approximately $70 total retail value. To be eligible, no fish of legal size must be weighed in and the team cannot place in the money for the tournament. In addition, both team members must have attended the Friday night pre-tournament meeting and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by the entry deadline (8 days prior to the tournament). Also, both team members must attend the following tournament's Friday night pre-tournament meeting (where the prizes will be awarded) and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by that tournament's entry deadline. Participants fishing solo, fishing with a substitute partner, paying late or receiving any tournament penalties are not eligible. In the event of a tie a winner will be chosen by random drawing. If a team is eligible to win both the just out of the money and the last place consolation prizes, they can choose between the two. This ‘Never Give Up’ year-end consolation prize will be awarded through a drawing to the team / teams that did not weigh-in a legal fish for each regular season tournaments. This prize will be a 5-hour Potomac River guide trip provided by WarBird Outdoors valued at $250 total retail value. To be eligible, no fish of legal size must be weighed in and the team cannot place in the money for any of the three tournaments. In addition, both team members must have attended two (2 )out of three (3) Friday night pre-tournament events, participate in two (2 )out of three (3) regular season tournaments and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by the entry deadline (8 days prior to the tournament). Participants fishing solo, fishing with a substitute partner, paying late or receiving any tournament penalties are not eligible. If a team is eligible to win both the ‘Never Give Up’ or the ‘Keep on Plug-In’ consolation prizes, they can only choose one prize and the other prize will be given to the next qualifying team.

This “Keep On Plug-in" year-end consolation prize will be awarded through a drawing to the team / teams that did not weigh-in a legal fish for each regular season tournaments. This prize will be ½ day (5-hour) guide trip on Lake Anna valued at approximately $275 total retail value. To be eligible, no fish of legal size must be weighed in and the team cannot place in the money for any of the three tournaments. In addition, both team members must have attended two (2 )out of three (3) Friday night pre-tournament events, participate in two (2 )out of three (3) regular season tournaments and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by the entry deadline (8 days prior to the tournament). Participants fishing solo, fishing with a substitute partner, paying late or receiving any tournament penalties are not eligible. If a team is eligible to win both the ‘Never Give Up’ or the ‘Keep on Plug-In’ consolation prizes, they can only choose one prize and the other prize will be given to the next qualifying team.
‘Great Performance Award (GPA)’ Consolation Prize. Sponsored by

This “Great Performance Award" year-end consolation prize will be awarded to the junior angler with the highest Grade Point Average received for your end of year report card. In the event of multiple winners a name will be drawn to declare the winner. This prize will be ½ day (5-hour) guide trip on Lake Anna valued at approximately $250 total retail value. To be eligible, a copy of your report card must be presented at the last pre-tournament meeting. In addition, both team members must have attended two (2 )out of three (3) Friday night pre-tournament events, participate in two (2 )out of three (3) regular season tournaments and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by the entry deadline (8 days prior to the tournament). Participants fishing solo, fishing with a substitute partner, paying late or receiving any tournament penalties are not eligible. If a team is eligible to win both the "Keep on Plug-in", “New Adventure Starts with Every Cast" or the “Great Performance Award" consolation prizes, they can only choose one prize and the other prize will be given to the next qualifying junior angler. Note: The parent, legal guardian or team partner will accompany the junior angler on the guide trip for a fun filled day on the water.
‘Hill of Dreams Big Bass Award’. – sponsored by Patti & John Bethel
This ‘Hill of Dreams Big Bass Award’ has been set up to recognize the Individual Youth who catching the biggest bass (including the dead fish penalty if the biggest bass weighed is dead) during a regular season tournament and who placed out of the money. This prize will consist of a certificate and $50 in cash. To be eligible the bass must be caught by the junior partner as part of the teams five fish limit, legal size per tournament waters and caught during tournament hours on artificial bait. The junior angler must be 14 years of age or younger during the 2010 tournament season. In addition, both team members must have attended the Friday night pre-tournament meeting and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by the entry deadline (8 days prior to the tournament). Also, both team members must attend the following tournament's Friday night pre-tournament meeting (where the prize will be awarded) and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by that tournament's entry deadline. Participants fishing with a substitute partner, paying late or receiving any tournament penalties other than the dead fish penalty are not eligible. In the event of a tie a winner will be chosen by random drawing. For the last regular season tournament, the prizes will be awarded at that tournament with similar participation requirements from the previous meeting and tournament having been met.
‘Big Pan-Fish’ Consolation Prize. Sponsored by: Jim Whittman, HarmoniX Rods Prostaff
This year-end consolation prize will be awarded to the youth weighing in the biggest pan-fish through any of the regular season tournaments. A legal pan fish is identified through Virginia In-Land Game and Fisheries (bluegill, crappie, blue sunfish, sun perch, redbreast sun perch, redear sun perch, warmouth, and white perch) for each regular season tournaments. This prize will be 1 HarmoniX pan-fish rod valued at approximately $65 total retail value. To be eligible, must be caught during tournament hours on artificial bait of legal size and must be weighed in by the junior angler. In addition, both team members must have attended two (2 )out of three (3) Friday night pre-tournament events, participate in two (2 )out of three (3) regular season tournaments and their team's complete entry must have been received (or postmarked) by the entry deadline (8 days prior to the tournament). Participants fishing solo, fishing with a substitute partner, paying late or receiving any tournament penalties are not eligible.
Big Bag Award. Sponsored by: Green Top Sporting Goods

This award has been set up to recognize the team catching the heaviest bag of bass (including all penalties) during a regular season tournament who has consistently participated in our events throughout the year. The winning team will receive plaques to commemorate this accomplishment. To be eligible for this year-end award, each team member must attend a minimum 2 out of 3 meetings and compete in a minimum 2 out of 3 tournaments. If fishing all 3 tournaments, 1 tournament can be fished solo or with a legal substitute partner (see National Rules).
Big Fish Award. Sponsored by: One Stop Boat Shop
This award has been set up to recognize the individual catching the heaviest bass (including the dead fish penalty if the heaviest fish weighed is dead) during a regular season tournament who has consistently participated in our events throughout the year. The winning individual will receive a plaque and $25 gift certificate from JDC Baits to commemorate this accomplishment. to be eligible for this year-end award, the eligible team member must attend a minimum 2 out of 3 meetings and compete in a minimum 2 out of 3 tournaments. If fishing all 3 tournaments, 1 tournament can be fished solo or with a legal substitute partner (see National Rules).
