Event number four has come to an end for Texas Central Fishers of Men. What a great weekend it was, stressful to start but in the end it all came together and made for an incredible event. Our Event started at the Open Road Biker Church in Georgetown, TX. This wonderful church definitely planned for our arrival; we had a dinner that was incredible. We were served steak and BBQ Chicken, baked potatoes, bread, beans and jalapeno poppers stuffed with cheese and crab meat. I understand, hearing the menu made me hungry as well. Pastor Butch brought an incredible message about obedience and faith, he spoke on the faith Abraham had. The message was truly a great one and we were very blessed to hear him deliver it.

As most know, the great state of Texas has been getting a ton of rain lately, and we certainly needed every drop, our lakes have been critically low for some time now. In the last few days Stillhouse Hollow Lake has not only gotten to full pool, but in the last few days has become 9.21ft over full pool. The Game Warden called me Friday afternoon telling me he was closing all the ramps except one due to high water; he kept one ramp open, and it was closed by noon on tournament day. We were able to get all the boats on the water this morning before his visit. Not only did we launch at the only boat ramp on the lake, but we also had a massive kayak tournament going out of there, a local club tournament and an ABA event. Needless to say, it was a bit crowded at the ramp.

We held our weigh in off site with the help of a live release trailer from Mr. Steve Karlik. We were able to set up and conduct the weigh in at Heritage Country Church in Salado, TX. And the anglers showed up, especially the team of Justin Williams and Colton Hill, these two pulled up to the location at 2pm and I said they either had boat issues or they absolutely hammered them. Hammered was an understatement, the two came to the scales with a very impressive sack of fish weighing 30.12 pounds.

Second Place went to the father / son team of Jordan and Cooper Schumacher. The two came to the scales with a limit weighing 20.7lbs. Young Cooper was so pumped up, he caught two of those keepers to help dad out. I believe we have a future stick among us…

Third Place was secured by Gus Chavira and Toby Tuner, they came to the scales with a limit setting in at 19.62lbs.

Fourth Place was taken by Garrett Stone and Christian Cruanyas. Garrett called me and said his live well dumped all its water and he was driving in and needed access to water for the fish. I later found out he was at a convenience store at the end of the road and left his partner in the store because he noticed the water had dumped, his partner’s phone was in the truck, so he was stranded at the store while Garrett made a mad dash to the tanks. The team saved the fish and ended up with 18.57lbs

Big Bass Honors went to Mike Sedillo and Justin Rathbun. They had a very good bag that was anchored by a 6.24lb large mouth.

Stillhouse Hollow Lake never disappoints, we are always excited to hold tournaments at this amazing fishery. Today was no different, despite the rising water and all the timber floating everywhere, the anglers went out and found the fish.

I must take a moment and give massive shout outs where they are due, we have the greatest anglers, the greatest volunteers, and staff. Nathan and Chris Eller drive all the way from Azle, TX not only to compete but to jump in and lend a hand. Today they came in early, and Nathan was bumping fish and Chris was taking photos of teams with their catch. Could not operate without these two, they are so much help. Melissa Eller is always a great help, her ability to jump in and help, run the computer and keep me calm is amazing. Ty Eller, my assistant director is always working with the Friday night activities and during tear down. After the weigh in we had so many individuals lending a hand to break everything down and pack the trailer, it went extremely smooth and quick, I can not explain what that meant. Thanks so much for all that jumped in and helped.

We certainly could not put on these events and share the Gospel to anglers without the wonderful support of our partners. Our local partners understand the importance of the word, the importance of family and having events that welcome and encourage family attendance. They understand that sharing the good news of the Gospel is paramount, and that it is what we are called to do according to his word. I can not say enough about great organizations like DIAMOND M LANDMANAGEMENT, TIGHTLINES PREMIUM TACKLE, CUSTOM TRUCK & WHEEL, BINGHAM MARINE TEXAS, TYLER WRAP COMPANY, FORAGE LURES, RPG OUTDOORS, CODA LURES, SAW GRASS RODS, PRO TEC PRODUCTS, HEALtHY SELF DPC, FISHLIFE FISH CARE PRODUCTS, TRUCK BEDS OF WILLIS. We are truly blessed to have all of these companies supporting us, words cannot explain how grateful we are.

Sponsors at the National Level are so important in this ministry, Fishers of Men is a very large ministry and having companies such as Berkley , BassCat Boats, Abu Garcia, Mercury, Fenwick, Realtree Fishing, FireFly Outdoor & Marine, Power-Pole,  T&H Marine, Frogg Toggs, X2 Power and Jacobs Glass is imperative for the word to be spread.
