What a way to end the Texas Central Division season. With all the rain in Central Texas our lakes are full, so full that Lake Belton is closed. Lake Belton was scheduled to be our last event of the season, unfortunately we had to make a last-minute decision to switch lakes to Lake Somerville. Somerville is sitting at full pool currently and is accessible for anglers.
We launched them all out at first light and the battle began. With water temperatures lingering around 87 to 93 degrees the fishing was slow for most. In those temps and with a light wind the team of Bryan Cotter and Mark Wilson were able to bring a limit in weighing 20.95lbs to collect the first-place position. The two certainly found the fish and capitalized on the bite.
Second Place was secured by Gary Johnson and Seth Fisher, the two reported to the scales with a limit weighing 13.93lbs. They secured their bag with the Big Bass for the day that tilted the scales by the tune of 6.09lbs.
Third Place was grabbed by Mitch Randles and Don Schuetze with a limit weighing 13.72lbs.
Lake Somerville can certainly prove to be a tough, a non-consistent lake with many challenges, despite these things most teams did report to the scales with something to weigh.
The weigh in concluded and we topped off the day with 7 individuals making the decision to be baptized in the lake. Divisional Chaplain Bill Shelnutt conducted the baptism, and we watched all seven make an outward public declaration that they went into the water one way and came out another. Dying to themselves and arising alive to walk and serve their Savior Jesus Christ. What an amazing time. So proud of those that made the choice today, Nathan Eller, Gus Chavira, Colton Eller, Jayce Payne, Chris Eller, Jaxson Payne and Little Miss Presley Butler.
