FOM MD TX #3 was held on April 30, 2022 out of Dundee Marina on the Gunpowder River on the Upper Bay. The tournament followed 3 straight days of high NW winds and chilling temps which changed the water temperatures and the fish mood considerably. After 3 days of lower than normal tides, the entrants were greeted to water levels 6 inches above normal to start the day. Bass fishing is a game of ever-changing variables.
Thank you to Trinity Lutheran on Philadelphia Rd. in Joppa, MD for the use of their pavilion for the Friday night meeting. All 12 teams had at least one member present at the meeting. We had 25 people and great jambalaya, pizza, salad and fixings. I would like to thank Jon Crans for delivering the gospel message and a great challenge. Knowing and doing are 2 different things! Our lives need to be built on the solid rock which is Christ and there is no other name given whereby we must be saved.
5 of the 12 teams brought limits to the scales today. The bags seemed to come from all over the region this time with the weigh in located in the southern part of the bay. Tom ad Jimmy brought the biggest bag to the scales with 21 lbs even. New team Tim Mullen and Tyler Helmick delivered a 19.45 sack to place second. Team Billings placed 3rd with 14.42 lbs. Brockmeyer and Molz finished 4th with a 12.88 lb bag. And 5th place was Wiley/Crans Team 3:16 with 12.59 lbs. Big fish was caught by Tommy Turner/George Fortner at 4.78lbs.
Thank you to all the support staff including Ted Quatman, Joseph Fears, Nancy Fears, Jimmy Rufenacht, and Jami Rufenacht for making the event run smoothly. I would like to thank our local sponsors FishermensHeaven.com and Stanford Lures for supporting the division.
Thank you to the Fishers of Men National sponsors Basscat boats, Mercury, Realtree Fishing, Power Pole, Firefly, Spiderwire Durabraid, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Jacobs Glass, T&H Marine, X2 Power, and Frogg Toggs for supporting Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail.
There are 2 events remaining in the season with the next event scheduled for 5/14 out of Elk Neck State Park. Following almost a month off, the final event will be June 11th. I want to personally thank the faithful teams that have been supporting the division this year! Please let me know if you have input towards next year’s schedule!
Thank you! Tom Rufenacht
