Fains win Watts Bar
Story by Steve Jennings
Friday Night Meeting was at New Midway Baptist Church. The church family provide the fishermen with some of the best home cooking in the South. After everyone had eaten, Rod Garrett delivered a message that made you stop and look at where you are in your walk with the Lord.
Saturday morning the Fishers of Men gang awoke to partly cloudy skies some fog and hot breeze blowing across the lake which made for a hot day to fish. As the day proceeded there would be times of overcast and bright sunshine making for an interesting day to fish.
First place Ameriprise Award went to the Father and Son team of Randy and Bailey Fain.
This dynamic team came to the scales with a 3 fish limit weighing in at 8.04 pounds. Bailey reported running their Mercury Outboard down to the mid-section of the lake to catch their fish. They flipped trees on the main lake to help them take the win. Great job guys.
Second place went to the Revered Rod Garrett and Paul Rogers. This seasoned team came back with a three fish limit weighing in at 6.36 pounds. Rod reported as always using a jig to catch their fish from the grass.
Third place went to the father and son team of Ben and Bob Boggs. These guys ran up in the Tennessee River to return with 2 fish that hit the scales at 5.18 pounds. Ben reported skipping a jig around docks.
White Pine Pro Staffers Brian Jordan and Michael Smith had the lunker of the tournament a beautiful 3.17pound largemouth bass. Brian reported running their Mercury powered boat down to the lower end of the lake to catch the fish. This talented team used a big work to catch the lunker of the tournament. With this high finish, and the God Lords blessing then through the year this team won the Point Championship again. Great job guys!! This team is sponsored by Mercury, Dixie Custom Baits, Tote Rite and White Pine Marine.
