Event number three for Texas Central Fishers of Men is a wrap. What a great event this was, despite the high winds and rough water on lake Waco. The event began with our Friday night pre-tournament meeting at Brazos Meadows Baptist Church in Hewitt, TX. We were greeted by an outstanding group of people that welcomed us with open arms. Truly was a blessing to be welcomed in by so many individuals desiring to help us put on a great event.

The meal prepared was a grand slam, completely off the charts. Pulled pork, brisket and pork sausage, beans, cole slaw, corn bread muffins and peach cobbler to finish it off. My goodness it was incredible, and the anglers got their fill.

Pastor Edwards delivered a message regarding the fact that it is by his blood and his blood alone that we receive eternal life. He spoke on the other two men on the cross that day, how one never served, never taught a Sunday school class, was not a member of a church, was not known for doing great deeds, that he simply believed and asked Jesus to remember him. What a wonderful message.

We finished the evening off with our signature style Texas Central Raffle, we raffled off sooooo much stuff.  From Abu Garcia Reels, Saw Grass Rods, Pro Tec Products, Fishlife Fish Care Products, Vicious Fishing Products, RPG Custom Plastics, Forage Lures, Berkley Fishing Products, Coda Jigs, Fish 419 Sunglasses, Tightline Premium Tackle Gift Cards, and Custom Truck and Wheel Gift Cards. It was a great raffle and fun was had by all.

Melissa Eller put together some great spouse gifts for those in attendance. We love celebrating the fact that Fishers of Men Texas Central is a family friendly trail that encourages family involvement. We greatly appreciate all the spouses that attend the Friday night pre-tournament meetings and those that make it to the weigh ins.

Saturday morning began with 18 mph winds that quickly turned to 20 and 25 mph winds with gusts far above those numbers. To say the lake was like being in a washing machine is an understatement. At 3pm teams started making their way to the weigh-in and despite the horrible winds and rough water, we saw some great weights for Lake Waco. Bill Shelnutt and Mike Smith took the first-place position with a limit weighing 16.16lbs, Hal Gatewood and Andy Whitehead secured second place with a limit weighing 15.78lbs. Gary Johnson and Seth Fisher ran that Bass Cat Puma STS around lake Waco and found a limit big enough to secure third place with 15.65lbs. Justin Williams and Colton Hill grabbed ahold of fourth place with a limit weighing 15.43lbs.

We were honored to have a youngster fishing his very first tournament with us today, Cooper Schumacher fished his very first event today at age 10 with his dad Jordan. They finished nineth today and Cooper caught the biggest fish in their bag on a swim bait. Was truly great seeing him out there and seeing his love for fishing, he had smiles from ear to ear, his dad was very happy as well. Hard to beat moments like that.

We can not close the event out without recognizing a few key players that help keep the wheels in motion during these events, Nathan and Chris Eller for all their help with set up and tear down, Nikki Washburn and JW for always helping with weigh-in set up, boat check in and picture taking. We also want to recognize Mr. Bill Shelnutt for performing as our chaplain, Bill does so much, he certainly prays hard for each and every person and request sent in, Bill is an inspiration and a great example for us all.

We certainly could not experience these great times without our local and national sponsors, they are more than providers to this trail, they are partners in building the kingdom. We are so grateful to have companies like Pro Tec Products, RPG lures, Tightlines Premium Tackle, Bingham Marine, Tyler Wrap Co., CODA Lures, Forage Lures, Fish Life Fish Care Products, Saw Grass Rods, and Custom Truck & Wheel in Killeen supporting us.

On the National Level Fishers of Men would like to thank all our National Sponsors Berkley , BassCat Boats, Abu Garcia, Mercury, Fenwick, Realtree Fishing, FireFly Outdoor & Marine, Power-Pole,  T&H Marine, Frogg Toggs, X2 Power and Jacobs Glass
