Our second tournament of the year is in the books and once again, the early spring weather took a toll on us tournament day. With winds 15-25 mph out of the North, the cold front really shocked the fish after having two previous days of weather in the 70's and low pressure condtions. Our winning team of Rediess and Haley brought in 17.27 pounds of Green River Lake largemouth for the win! They had luck chasing around baitballs with their livescope throwing Alabama rigs, damiki rigs, swimbaits and jerkbaits - water depth ranged drastically and they focosed solely on bait balls. They were able to cash in with their livescope and take the win on a WINDY, COLD FRONTAL tournament day. Our second place team of Brinegar and Walker also took advantage of finding shad balls in the lake, but much shallower than our winners. They were able to find shad balls in creek arms and pockets around 10 feet deep. They targeted those fish with spinnerbaits, crankbaits and swimbaits. Brinegar and Walker brought in 5 largemouth for 16.34 pounds and a very healthy sack of fish. Our last team to cash a check was the team of Williams and Feldman. They brought 4 largemouth to the scale for 12.32 pounds and had their luck on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jigs fishing shallow timber. Our big fish of the tournament was caught by Mr. John Stomberger - a smallmouth weighing almost 6 pounds! There were several nice smallmouth weighed in on tournament day, but the largemouth prevailed and anchored the top 3 teams.
Our Friday night meeting at Bloomington Chapel church was GREAT as always. The youth group there does such a great job taking care of the Fishers of Men on the Friday night meetings. They do so much for their community as well - building ramps for the elderly at their homes, donating their time picking up trash, etc. Fishers of Men - Kentucky West division is VERY thankful to have such a great local church like Bloomington Chapel. The meals are ALWAYS phenomenal, the people are so friendly and the devotional is POWERFUL.
