We had some great weather for our first Team Series tournament on Lake Keowee. 29 boats participated in the event.

Friday night’s meeting was hosted by Mile Creek Baptist Church. What a time of fellowship. We thank all the folks that had a part in supporting the efforts. There was no shortage of helping hands, and dessert!! It was great.

Mile Creek also supplied music from their choir. You can tell when its more than just music. They were having a good time, as were we. Thank you all for giving of yourselves to support the ministry of Fishers of Men.

Pastor Jim delivered an exciting message about four friends who helped their friend get to Jesus. This is a familiar passage to us, but it was brought alive as Pastor Jim helped us to see the passion and purpose of these men. How far do we go when it comes to helping our friends and loved ones get to Jesus? Sometimes times get tough, but persistence should overrule. There’s too much at stake to give up. Several indicated that they wanted to recommit their faith and purpose to Christ.

Our teams were greeted with orange juice and doughnuts by Johnny and Annette Gentry (our new Chaplain team). We are excited about this season, and the opportunities for ministering to our division and their families.

Saturday was filled with clear skies and mild temperatures for the 1st tournament in 2009. The wind did gust some throughout the day, but most anglers were able to find a few spots (and a largemouth or two).

The following were our leaders:

1st: 10.09 lbs; David and Michelle Hicks
Tactics- Deep was the ticket. Shakey heads in 65 feet. They caught 3 limits Saturday.

2nd : 10.06 lbs : Mark and Oscar Hicks
Tactics- Early on the docks, but later it was deep (75 feet).

3rd : 9.5 lbs : Jeremy Estes and Ronnie Gillespie
Tactics- Fishing docks around 30 feet.

1st Big Fish 3.77 lbs ; Dennis Tench and Bryan Turner
Tactics- Shaky Head in 14' Drop Off

2nd Big Fish- 3.37 lbs : Michael Brewer & Tom Cloer III
Tactics- Caught in the first 10 minutes on a blade runner over a road bed.

Great job everyone!!!!

Next month we will be on Clarks Hill. We’ll be meeting at Plum Branch Baptist Church. Our guest speaker is coming from within our division… Mr. Buddy Simmons will be sharing a portion of his testimony with us that will be an awesome follow-up to the message Chris gave at Dutch Fork.
