Clarks Hill Results: Mar-07-2009
We had some GREAT weather for our March Team Series tournament on Clarks Hill Lake. 27 boats participated in the event.
Friday night’s meeting was hosted by Plum Branch Baptist Church. We thank Pastor John Noblin and all the fine ladies and gentlemen that had a part in the preparation and serving of the delicious meal of ham, biscuits, green beans, mac & cheese and apple pie. Thank you all for giving of yourselves to support the ministry of Fishers of Men.
Chris Wells delivered yet another inspired message beginning with why Easter is even better than Christmas to him. He gave us all a great reminder that the cross means nothing without Jesus’s bodily resurrection. He challenged each of us to BE CHANGED; don’t stay the same!!! Chris closed with a story that still pains many of our hearts to recall: Sam Odom’s memorial and funeral. Many had asked what Al’s source of strength was during that time, that he could preach at his own son’s funeral. Chris had already mentioned the answer- Al’s source of strength was and is the same power found in the resurrection of Jesus Christ! Two team members indicated they renewed their commitments to Christ on their decision cards, and one indicated a new decision to trust Jesus as their Lord & Savior. We are grateful to our Chaplain Team of Johnny and Annette Gentry also for designing and printing not only the meeting programs and next tournament information sheets, but also the new (shorter) decision cards.
We began our 2nd season tournament at the boat ramp of Hamilton Branch State Park. Although things were a bit slower than usual with the single ramp, we had a steady stream of anglers getting their boats in the water and having no trouble finding parking. We are very thankful to Ranger Travis Sellers for his excitement and support of Fishers of Men holding a tournament at Hamilton Branch. The teams were greeted with hot coffee and Little Debbie breakfast cakes in the cool early morning by our Chaplain Team. Thank you to our Chaplains for the help with check-in!
Thank you to Allen and Dee Stanley (AKA “Grandee & Papa”) , also, for lunch, help with the check-in and weigh-in, and keeping up with MONTE! We also appreciated the help of two fun young ladies who served as excellent fish-runners: Tori & Katie Jackson!
Saturday was lovely and WARM, with clear skies and mild temperatures. The wind did pick up a bit throughout the day, but some of our anglers didn’t mind!
The following were our leaders:
1st Place and 1st Big Fish: 16.01/4.40 lbs; Mark and Oscar Hicks
Tactics- Shallow & sunny with crankbaits & floating worms. They had seven bites and landed five quality fish!
2nd Place: 9.98 lbs : Shawn and Todd Stanford (Todd subbing for Michael Hatfield)

3rd Place: 9.67 lbs : NEW TEAM of Chad Hamm and David Carver

April 4th we will be on Lake Murray. On Friday the 3rd, we’ll meet at Friend Church in Irmo for a joint meeting with the SC Lowcountry Legacy Division. Our next speaker is a familiar face… Mr. Tony Eubanks, former Clemson Athletics Chaplain, will be joining us with the message God has laid on his heart.
