The Kentucky South Central Division of Fishers of Men returned to Lake Cumberland for the second tournament of the 2009 Season. Although temperatures were much warmer than the previous tournament, anglers had to contend with heavy downpours all day. Large amounts of rain in recent weeks also had the the lake level on the rise and muddy water throughout much of the upper end of Lake Cumberland forcing many anglers to change game plans or make the long, cold run towards the dam in hopes of finding clearer water and a bite on the float n fly.

Although fishing was tough for many teams, defending points champions Bill Day and Jamie Brewer recovered from a disapointing finish in the opening tournament by capturing first place with an impressive five fish limit weighing in at 18.74 pounds and also weighing in the big fish of the tournament, a 6.37 largemouth. Day and Brewer reported catching their fish by flipping jigs up in junk piles in the back of creeks. Day and Brewer loaded up this weekend with 1st place big fish, 1st place bonus bucks, 1st plave overall, and they also won the Pittsburg Marine free entry fee giveaway for the next tournament. The team of Brian Wilson and Brad Roberts came in second place with four fish weighing a total of 16.50lbs. Wilson and Roberts also had the second big fish of the tournament with a 6.20 small mouth. Rounding out the top five were Bowling and Combs with 13.84 and a monster 4.60 Kentucky Spotted Bass, Turner and Wells with 11.47, and Owings and Appleby with 10.40.

As always the highlight of the tournament was the pretournament meeting hosted by Winners Marine in Bronston. Winners did an outstanding job as over 100 anglers and families came out for great BBQ and fellowship. Fellow angler Densmore Goodson brough the inspirational message and shared with anglers about the love our great Heavenly Father shows towards us. Densmore also used his experience as an adoptive parent to illustrate his message. We celebrate that there was a decision made for Christ and three rededications.

Join us in April on Barren River Lake for our next tournament. It is still not too late to qualify for our regional tournament.

A special THANK YOU to our local sponsors: Pittsburg Marine, Days Boat Sales, Cumberland Pro Jigs, and Winners Marine.
