Fishers of Men
Delaware Division
Nanticoke River Tournament
July 31 & Aug 1, 2009
1 Corinthians 12:4-6
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
Service to others:
The Friday night meeting was held at Grotto’s Pizza in Seaford Delaware. We were blessed with a fantastic pizza dinner prepared by the Grotto’s staff. We were blessed to be joined by teams Kevin Phelps/Kent Hunter, Tim Stump/Lester Boney and Ron Horton / Frank Daniels for the first time this year. We were sorry that some of our other teams could not make this tournament. The talk focused on services to others. As I looked around the room at the men and women who serve in many ways, it made me humble before them and the Lord.
Special thanks to the Fishers of Men Gold sponsors, Triton Boats, Mercury Marine, Shakespeare, Pflueger, X Tools, All Star graphite rods and Reese Marine. FOM Silver sponsors, Lowrance, Keelshield, Sospenders, Solar Bats. Marshalls Marine, Gary Yamamoto and Berkley. Let’s not forget our Bronze sponsors, Motorguide, Spot Remover, Dual Pro Charger Poor Boy Baits, Jacobs Glass, Stanley Jigs, Deka Marine Master, Mizno and Rejuvenade. I would like to thank our local sponsors, Interstate Batteries and Links Marine.
With the rain the previous night, we were not sure how Saturday would shape up. However, the day started off with great weather. The third tournament of the season kicked off on the Nanticoke River, at the Seaford Municipal Park Ramp, in Seaford Delaware.
At the end of a great day, every team came in with a five fish limit. However, the returning team of Tim Stump and Lester Boney took first place honors with five bass weighing 12.14 lbs. They produced a 4.10 lb lunker, that sealed their victory. Second place went to Josh Wich & Bob Moody bringing in 9.50 pounds of fish. Dave Perrego and sub Devon Braune finished third with 9.23lbs. Dave Perrego aka, “Mr. Consistency” has finished third in every tournament this year. With the Pocomoke and Potomac coming up, Dave is looking forward to a win. With a win, that team could move into the point’s leads. Lew Boulden with Sub Shawn Ashmead slipped to a 5th place finish, but retained the points lead over Perrego and White by one point. Trout/Stewart and Wich/Moody are tied for third, just three points out of the lead. The final two tournaments of the season are shaping up for a real battle for the overall points lead.
I would like to thank the Delaware FOM staff (Director-Cindy and Asst Director-Karen) for always doing a wonderful job. They truly make the division a “Family Affair” and their service to us shows at each tournament.
The next Fishers of Men tournament will be held on September 12th on the Pocomoke River, out of Shad Landing State Park. The Friday night meeting will be held at the Lynn Haven Baptist Church in Pocomoke City. Registrations opens at 5:00 pm, dinner at 6:00 pm and meeting at 7:00pm. On that Friday, you may practice up until 5:00 pm. See you there.
*AS A REMINDER* The Potomac tournament schedule on Sept 26th will not have a Friday night meeting, thus no points will be awarded for that meeting. This tournament was rescheduled from the April 4th cancellation.
The drawing for boat positions will be done friday night by the director, Cindy Warfield. Cindy will contact each team to advise them of their boat position. Teams (with 2009 memberships on file) may pay at the ramp, but will be placed at the end of the boat order.
GOD BLESS
Bob Moody
