Winter Haven Chain Results: Apr 17, 2010
The Florida Central Division of the Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail returned to the Winter Haven Chain on April 17th expecting plenty of fish to be weighed in. Twenty-five out of the forty-one Teams competing brought five-fish limits to the scales. The Team of Red Flowers and Mike Robinson won the Tournament with 23.04 pounds, including the 2nd Big Fish of the Day – an 8.10 pound largemouth. Red and Mike traveled to Lake Eloise and were using Bomber crank baits in 5-7 feet of water near vegetation. With this being their first win with the Fishers of Men, the Team culled through ten fish to obtain their winning weight.
Second Place was earned by Josh Albin and Skyler Almand who fished on Lake Summit and Eloise. In a variety of clear and stained water, Josh and Skyler cast worms and rattle traps to catch their 19.13 pound limit of quality bass.
Catching the Big Fish of the Day was David Martindill and Glenn Welborn. Weighing in at 8.34 pounds, their Big Fish brought their total weight to 17.30 lbs. David and Glenn were using 10 inch Texas rigged worms in 5 feet of stained water near pepper grass on Lake Eloise. Cody Ellis and Carl Stephenson weighed in 17.25 pounds for Fourth Place and were also fishing on Lake Eloise using Zoom soft plastics and Rattle Traps in 2-7 feet of dirty water. Jim and Sharon Wade had 17.23 pounds to win Fifth Place with Sharon's big fish of 4.76 pounds.

The Friday Night Pre-Tournament Meeting was hosted by the First Church of the Nazarene in Winter Haven. Pastor Don Smith and the Members prepared BBQ'd pork sandwiches with plenty of extras to all the Fishermen and their guest. Pastor Smith gave an inspirational message using Luke 5 as a foundation. Speaking on “Obedience”, we were reminded of the first Disciples being fishermen and how they had stepped out in faith to drop their nets and follow Jesus.
