Spring Fling OPEN - E Lake Toho Results: Mar 27, 2010
The Annual Spring Fling Bass Tournament was held on March 27th on East Lake Toho. The Orlando Utilities Commission sponsored the Tournament in conjunction with the St. Cloud Rotary Club's weekend of Carnival rides, Corn Hole Tournaments, Wakeboard Competition ,Garden Tractor Pulls, along with live entertainment. The Fishers of Men also hosted a Legacy Series Tournament prior to the 2:00 p.m. weigh-in of the Spring Fling competitors. More detail on the Legacy Event can be found at www.fomntt.com .
Thirty-seven boats blasted off at Chisholm Park at 7:00 a.m., after the Legacy Adult/Junior Teams departed. Winds were at about 10-15 mph with the sun providing a quick warmup. The competitors were vying for the 1st Place Prize of $2000.00, along with monetary awards and prizes.
Winning the 2010 Spring Fling Bass Tournament were the returning 2009 Winners, Jay and Gerald Turner with a 24.09 pound five-fish limit. Jay and Gerald also weighed in the Big Fish of the Day at 6.18 pounds. Their total prize winnings were $2370.00. The Turners had fished in open and deeper water. Weighing in 24.09 pound of bass on East Lake Toho is very respectable , even in the spring time.
Second Place was won by Daniel Lanier and Joe Ventrello with 16.73 pounds, including their heaviest largemouth weighing 4.59 pounds. Third Place was won by Jacob Lewis and Eric Trives with with a close 16.47 pounds that included a 4.97 pound bass. Doug Gilley and Fay Rowles were able to bring 13.47 pounds to the scales with a 5.15 pound bass being there largest and won Fourth Place. Also weighing in a five-fish limit was the Team of Don Hinman and Ken Winter for a total weight of 12.64 pounds, which was good enough to win Fifth Place. The Sixth Place went to Kevin Bush and Sid Ropeor with 12.44 pounds. Kevin and Sid took the 2nd Big Fish Award with their 5.35 pounder. With 12.05 pounds, Mark Blaile and Art Hill won Seventh Place, followed by Skip Campbell and John Darr for Eight Place with 10.92 pounds. Besides the Monetary Awards, Bass Pro Shop Gift Cards and Wojo's Gift Cards were awarded, along with NAPA Marine Batteries.
The Florida Central Division of the Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail would like to thank the St. Cloud Rotary Club for their continued support of the local Community. The next Florida Central Division Fishers of Men Team Series Event is on the Winter Haven Chain on April 17th using the William G. Roe Ramp on Lake Shipp.
