Orange Lake Results: Mar 20, 2010
Finally, it seemed like forever after having to postpone the Suwannee Tournament due to ever increasing water levels. However the wait was well worth it all. Friday night began with a wonderful message delivered by Matt Geiger who is a member of the Pentecostals of Gainesville. We all left with his title in our spirits and minds. "Leaving A Legacy." What a great word about legacy's being left as Matt's father who is the current head football coach @ Keystone Heights High School heard what an impact he had made on his own son's life. Many thanks to Pastor Jeff Arnold and lay minister Chris Richardson for providing the church and a fabulous meal. Man was that apple cobbler good! Saturday morning proved to be one of the warmest days for the 22 boats in some time since this has been an extremely out of the normal winters for Florida anglers. As myself and Wayne McCall waited for the teams to return to the dock, a youngster landed a bass off the dock that we weighed on our Fishers of Men scales tipping @ 9.88. When the teams began arriving every team weighed fish with the exception of two teams. When all fished had been weighed it was the Central Florida visiting team of Danny Mosley & Matt Touri taking first place with a total weight of 24.77 and also Big Fish with a nice 10.84 lunker. Second Place went to the team of Dusty McDevitt and Wayne Lindsey with a total weight of 19.36. Third place went to our University of Florida Fishing Team of Jake Gipson and Andy Adkins with a total weight of 15.49. Finally our fourth place winners were the husband and wife team of Kevin Duke and Susan Duke who weighed in 14.40. Post Tournament findings would reveal that both the first and second place winners caught their bags on a Devil Horse with the team of Mosley and Touri boating the 10.84 around 11:30. Third place winners Mullis and Mullis would not reveal anything but the choice of bait for the day was a Stanley bait. Fourth place winners Duke and Duke said that they caught the majority of their fish on a speed worm.
Finally I would like to extend a personal "Good Luck" to the teams of Whiteside and Smith, McDevitt and Lindsey, and Cowie and McCrae who will be fishing Nationals in the month of April on Lake Guntersville.
Our next tournament will be held on the Suwannee River out of Fanning Springs.
Bass Wishes,
Nick
