A RAINY DAY TO START
Fishers of Men, Alabama South fished their first tournament of 2010 out of Cliffs Landing on Saturday February 27, 2010. The Friday night meeting was hosted by Daphne United Methodist Church in Daphne, AL. The served us hot dogs with chili and all the fixins to go with them. We had tea to drink and chocolate chip cookies for desert. Thank you so much Daphne United Methodist Church, Neil Beasley and Pastor Steve Rascoe for all you did for us on Friday night. Brother Steve spoke to us about how life can sometimes be so much like bad line. Bad line has lots of nicks and frays in it and if not careful it will break. Our lives are the same. We make dumb mistakes and they always come back to haunt us in one way or another. However if we know Jesus as our Lord and savior and will get in with a support group to hold us accountable, it will help to keep us from becoming like the bad line and getting frayed and nicked to the point of breaking. We cannot do it on our own, we have to lean on our Lord for his strength and protection. Thank you Brother Steve for the words we should all live by. We had 68 people at the meeting Friday night. We had no professions of faith with one rededication. All 28 teams were represented at the meeting on Friday night.
Saturday morning we were greeted with a light rain that was pretty much over by blastoff time As the day wore on the wind began to pick up and I am sure it made it rough out on the water as it was a cool day all day long. There were 66 fish brought to the scales to be weighed in that weighed a total of 136.95 Lbs. Congratulations to the team of Larry and David Foshee. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 19.53 Lbs. to take first place. They also weighed in the first big fish that weighed 5.93 Lbs. They caught their fish on Chartreuse and red crank baits and black and blue jigs. Their big fish was caught on a jig in very shallow water. Their fish came from both deep and shallow water and they were fairly close to the landing, but did say they were the other side of the I65 bridge. Congratulations to the team of Sammy Garrett and Dale Rogers. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 17.02 lbs. to take second place. They caught their fish on a bandit orange and white crank bait and black and blue jigs also in deep and shallow water. They said they were a little farther north than the Foshees. Congratulations to the team of Kyle Ferguson and Rodney Hicks. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 12.58 Lbs. to take third place. Their fish were caught in both deep and shallow water on spinner baits and jigs. They too were just above the I-65 bridge. Congratulations to the team of George and Richard Marlow. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 8.51 Lbs. to take fourth place. Their fish were caught on a green crank bait and on spinner baits as well as a blue and black jig and a green lizard. Their fish were also caught in deep and shallow water and they were close as they were in a small boat. Congratulations to the team of Kris Clancy and Lance Spencer. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 7.91 Lbs. to take fifth place. They too were north of I-65 and caught their fish deep on plastic worms. The second big fish of the day was caught by the team of Dale Westmoreland and Lance Youngblood. It weighed 5.13 Lbs. and was caught on a black and red jig. Congratulations to Dale and Lance.
