Alabama Central held our first Friday night meeting at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Clanton. They fed the crowd a good cold weather meal of homemade vegetable soup with cornbread and assorted cakes. Danny Tesseneer was our guest speaker. His lovely wife Denise opened with music. She sang “Nothing But The Blood”. It is always amazing to hear that voice come from such a small person. Danny spoke on the scripture where for the first time Jesus tells them to cast a “fishing” hook. The fish that they hook has a coin in its mouth. Danny used this to illustrate that the Holy Spirit will lead us to the person we are to “hook” for Jesus. He will provide what we need, but we must be alert to His calling. He went on to say that many believe they are Christians, but it is only head knowledge, not heart knowledge. True Christians see results when they heed the Holy Spirit. Christians with heart knowledge experience changed lives. There were three recommitted lives.
Saturday morning dawned clear and crisp with a temperature of 28 degrees. Our 24 teams blasted off to stained, murky, but calm water. By weigh-in time it had warmed up to about 60 degrees, but it was still very cool on the water as well as on land. Our fishermen brought 75 fish to the scale weighting in 153.28 pounds. First place and 1st bonus bucks went to the team of Chris Wilson and Steve Callins with 14.38 pounds. Second place and 2nd bonus bucks went to the team of Jade Wilson and Adam Wilkerson with 14.27 pounds. This team also had second big bass at 4.93 lbs. Third place went to the team of Jeff and Terry Cook with 11.89 pounds. Allen Yarborough caught the first big bass topping the scales at 5.21 pounds. Top adult/junior team was Greg and Candler McCollum with 9.23 pounds.
