Alabama Central held our second Friday night meeting at Faith Temple in Alexander City. They fed a crowd of 100 people an outstanding meal of baked chicken, baked potatoes, green beans, rolls, and assorted cake. Walt Higgins was our speaker this month. Walt took the individual parts of a fishing rod and compared them to life as a Christian. The handle is something to hold onto, the reel seat attaches the working parts together, guides keep everything in line, and the rod holds in all together giving it power and completing it. In our Christian life we all need something or someone to hold onto. We need to be aligned with the scripture and Jesus gives us power and holds it all together for us. Only the precious blood of Jesus Christ has the power to save!
Saturday morning dawned clear with temperatures in the 30’s. Our 29 teams blasted off on a lake that was dingy and stained from recent storms with lowering and rising of the water levels. By weigh-in time it was breezy with wind gusts beginning to usher in an expected storm front. Our outstanding fishermen brought 136 fish to the scale weighting in at 244.03 pounds. First place and 1st bonus bucks went to the local team of Robbie & Brandon Pritchard with 13.75 pounds. Second place and 2nd bonus bucks went to the team of Randy Culver & David Sherrill with 12.70 pounds. Third place went to the team of Buck Brackin & Michael Findley with 11.28 pounds. The team of Chad Newbolt & Trace Carson caught the 1st big bass weighing in at 5.06 pounds. The team of Ty Story & Felix Windsor had the 2nd big bass at 4.79 pounds. Top adult/junior team was Greg & Candler McCollum with 8.21 pounds.
