Alabama Central held our third Friday night meeting at Mt Hebron West Baptist Church in Elmore. They fed a crowd of 70 people a meal of lasagna, green salad, french bread and assorted cake. Jim Browder, Alabama Central’s right-hand man, was our speaker this month. Jim took us through the new sale items in tackle catalogs – new electronics, new baits, etc. He then asked how excited we get over a new birth, a new marriage. He stated that God also wants to see new things. He discussed new life in Christ and being born again. There was one recommitment.
Saturday morning dawned clear with warm, breezy temperatures. Our 25 teams blasted off on a lake that was yellow with pollen.. By weigh-in time it was sunny and clear. Competition was stiff with another tournament with 40+ boats at the same place, but our outstanding fishermen all caught a limit bringing 125 fish to the scale weighting in at 345.46 pounds. First place went to the team of Randy Culver & David Sherrill with 17.41 pounds which included big fish at 5.26 lbs. Second place and 1st bonus bucks went to the father/son team of Mike Hearn, Sr. & Mike Hearn, Jr. with 16.94 lbs. Third place went to another father/son team, Jimmy & DeWayne Rich with 11.28 pounds including 2nd big fish at 4.68 lbs. Top adult/junior team was Greg & Candler McCollum with 12.03 lbs.
