Alabama Central held our fourth Friday night meeting at East Memorial Baptist Church in Prattville. They fed a crowd of 63 people a meal of pasta meal with salad, bread sticks and chocolate pie. Pat Higgins, our director’s wife, brought us a devotional on people. Pat talked about some of the different types of people we have to deal with and that can be found in any crowd, any event, even sitting in our churches. The emphasis was on the lost, the uncommitted, and the faithful followers.
Saturday morning dawned hot and clear. It was 73 degrees at 3:15 a.m. By weigh-in time we had passed the 90 degree mark. We shared the river with 6 other tournament groups. Even with bluebird skies, hot temperatures, and much competition, 21 of our 22 teams had a 5-fish limit bringing 108 fish to the scale weighting in at 258.23 pounds. First place & 1st bonus bucks went to the team of Allen Yarborough & Chris Rutland with 17.30 pounds. Second place and 1st big fish went to the team of Steve Calls & Chris Wilson with 16.06 lbs. First big fish topped the scales at 4.89 lbs. Third place & 2nd bonus bucks with to the father/son team, Gene & Mike Presley with 15.15 lbs. Top adult/junior team was Greg & Candler McCollum with 9.28 lbs. Second big fish went to the 6th place team of Jade Wilson & Adam Wilkerson at 4.34 lbs.
