The First Tournament of the year proved to be tough for the 24 teams that participated on Lake Chicot.
We met Friday night for a great meeting hosted by longtime supporters of Fishers of Men. The meeting was held at Lakeside United Methodist Church where Pastor Tony Hill delivered a great message after which there was one who rededicated their life to Christ. Praise the Lord!!! The Lake Village Chamber of Commerce provided an incredible meal for the teams and amazing support helping us prepare to come to town. We were welcomed by a host of people from the community supporting this event. People from Chamber of Commerce, Church Volunteers, City Council, and the Mayor all chipped in to help and show support. It was great to see the willingness of everyone there on a Friday night to help out with the ministry of Fishers of Men. Thank you all so much for everything!!!
The weather was great, we have had a very cold winter for South Arkansas, and it was great to have a day in the mid 60’s after a long relentless winter. The warmer air did not, however, make the fish bite. Fishing on Lake Chicot for the past few weeks has been described by many as “Brutal” and that may have been putting it lightly. With winning weights on Chicot of 16.59lbs in 2006, 25.54lbs in 2007, 21.73lbs in 2008, and 18.16lbs in 2009, the following 2010 results are surprising. Out of the 24 teams only seven weighed in fish, and even more shocking than that was the fact that no team weighed in more than one fish. That leaves 17 teams tied for 8th place in the points.
The following were our leaders:
1st Place: 6.05lbs: Mark Ply and Terry King
2nd Place: 5.90lbs : Jason Burt and Foster Mitchell
3rd Place: 3.97lbs : Dax Henderson and Derrek Nichols

Next month we will be on the AR River at Pendleton. We’ll be meeting at First Assembly of God Church in Dumas. Please invite your fishing buddies to come be a part of Fishers of Men.
