Well this was our last cast of the season and was it a good one. With only 4 teams sticking it out till the end, all 4 teams ended on a high note catching a 5 fish limit.
Friday night we meet at Pizza Inn on Stateline for some pizza and to also meet the soon to be director for next year. Johnny Bickham has applied with FOM to be the director for the 2011 season Ark-La-Tex division. Johnny met the guys and saw what I did at the meetings. Although we did not have a speaker I gave a message we all could feel. As most of the country knows we had a terrible flood at Camp Albert Pike in Arkansas recently where a grandfather, grandmother and their grandson perrished. There was a surreal event that took place there when the mother went to the flood site for closure. As she walked over the scattered shoreline she found a rock that simply said I LOVE YOU written in her son's handwriting. Closure comes in many many ways but God comforts us all.
When 3pm came we were tired hot and ready to go home. As the scales started to roll and the fish started to flop the winners came to the top but just barely. Just look at the weights!
1st place with 5 fish Royce Hickson & John Cox 16.47
2nd place and 5 fish Kenneth McMellon & Doug Rochelle 16.37 3rd went to J.D.Russell & Ray Smith 5 fish at 15.20 while 4 place goes to the Dallas team of Patrick Starrett & Greg Prewitt with 11.18. 1st BB was 5.20 caught by Kenneth McMellon. 2nd BB went to John Cox with a 4.19 bass.
I want to thank all the anglers for being great sports and helping me out this year as director. Although we did not have the numbers I wished we could have had, we had a fun year and look foward to regionals and next years tournament schedule.
