Yatesville Lake Results: Mar 13, 2010
The East Kentucky Division got the season off to a good start on Friday March 12 at Meades Branch Freewill Baptist church. The folks at Meades Branch really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They had prepared an excellent meal with all the trimmings and had decorated just for the Fishers of Men event.
Tonya Castle began our devotional time with beautiful singing and playing of the Hymn Redeemed.
Pastor Darrin Rice brought the message that was right on target for the event about “fishing in the right spot.” He issued a challenge to us to catch fish and not just wet our line. Jesus called all of us to be witnesses for Him outside the walls of our churches, and I thank Pastor Rice for reminding us of that.
Everyone attending the service was blessed from the message with one of the anglers rededicating his life to the Lord. AMEN!
Saturday morning started off raining and cool but blast off went on as scheduled. Ten teams signed up and fished with us for our first ever event. The fishing was tough due the all the rain that fell the week leading up to the event. The rain did stop during the day but it remained cool with overcast.
All the teams were welcomed with warm pizza at check in time but only 3 teams were successful with fish to weigh in on this challenging day. We really appreciate everyone who came out and participated in the event and we look forward to seeing you at Paintsville Lake next month. Be sure to get your entries in 8 days prior to the event to avoid late fee.
Thanks again to everyone at Meades Branch for the extraordinary hospitality that you displayed and the food that went beyond anything I expected (especially the fried sweet potatoes and the pig licking cake.)
Thanks again to our division sponsors:
