Lake Mozingo Results: Apr 24, 2010
It has been a long wait for our first tournament of 2010 on Lake Mozingo.
We had very good weather leading up to the week end of the tournament however things were about to change. There were very few fishermen on the water Friday morning for practice do to the heavy rains that moved into the area Thursday night and Friday morning. By Friday night meeting time the sun had come out and the weather had improved.
The Meeting was held at the Nodaway County Senior Center. Gary Goodwin our Divisional Chaplin gave a inspirational message and we had 1 person invite Jesus into his heart and 5 others renew their commitment to the Lord.
On display at the meeting was the new weigh in trailer/stage and we reviewed the new weigh in procedure for this year. A chili super was enjoyed by the 14 teams that fished this Tournament.
Friday night another band of rain moved through the area with heavy lightning and hail. As the tournament started the rain had moved out leaving rising water and overcast skies.
The 27 anglers who fished this tournament were able to bring 55 fish weighing 157.51 lbs to the scales. Leading this group of competitors were the team of Jim Meyerdirk and Chris Calkins with 5 fish weighing 18.48 lbs. and 2nd big bass of 4.54 lbs. Second place was secured by Steve Green and John Thomsen from Creston with 16.08 lbs. Third place was taken by Michael Stetich who was fishing alone with a bag weighting in at 15.49 lbs. Big Bass of the tournament went to Wes Mahan and his partner Russell Musick, it weighed in at 6.38 lbs and was the anchor fish of a 15.00 bag that landed them in 5th place. Fourth place weigh was 15.47 it was caught by Shawn Holly and Bob Thomsen who had just returned from finishing 5th in the National Championship tournament in Alabama.
We would like to thank the local sponcers for their support Hot Rod Baits (sales@hotrodbaits.com or phone 641-751-5570) and Brushy Creek Lures (515-571-9431). At weigh-in they Measure Up.
