As we were getting ready for or 2nd tournament of the year we were blessed with 3 1/2 days of rain and cold. The water temperature of the lake dropped into the mid 50’s and the rain muddied up the upper ends of the lake and the back of the coves. The lake level came up about 15 in. Mid lake area stayed fairly clear with the cleanest water being in the main lake. Most of the fish came in the mid lake area on slow baits around wood or in the flooded grass with a few fish being taken on spinner baits.
Shawn Holly and Bob Thompson took first place with a limit of 5 fish totaling 16.81 lbs. Second place was secured by Jim Meyerdirk and Chris Calkins with the aid of big bass of 4.98 lbs and a total weight of 16.73 lbs. Third place was won by Pat Klausen who was fishing alone with a weight of 16.23 lbs. Fourth place was Derick and Jon Dunton with second big bass of 4.92 and a total weight of 14 lbs.
There were 63 fish weighed in with a total weight of 163.10 lbs. there were 9 five fish limits weighed.
Our Friday night meeting was held at the Pizza Ranch in Creston Ia. Ever contestant at the meeting received a free bag of Hot Rod baits to try courteous of Hot Rod Baits (Todd Reed) and Chris Calkins. Our guest speaker was the pastor from the local Assemble of God church in Creston. The message was that as a Christian it is our responsibility to reach out to people and invite them to join us. It takes every one reaching out to build the membership of any organization.
