Texas North Central Fishers of Men kicked off the year at Lake Palestine Saturday, Feb.4, 2012.
We started off Friday night with our meeting at H&W Marine [your local Skeeter Bass Boat Dealer]. They fed us all the Burgers & Dogs we could eat. We appreciate Chris Knight, Joe, Dennis, Angie and the gang for their hospitality. They always take good care of us. If you’re in the market for a boat, this is the place to come. They have 3 stores. Tyler, Marshall, and Bossier City. We had a special guest from Skeeter Boats , Mr. Jeff Woolridge came and shared with us how excited they were to be teamed up with Fishers of Men. We at Fishers of Men or excited to be teamed up with a fine company like Skeeter Boats. Our Chaplin, Robert Templin shared Scripture from 2 Cor. 5:17 and we are a new creation in Christ and we are called to serve. Thank you Robert for such a great job.
We had storms that came thru Friday night and into the wee hours Saturday morning. We will take all of the rain that God sends us. Lake Palestine has risen about 3 foot from its lowest point last fall. The lake is still about 4 foot low. Most of the places that our anglers catch fish this time of year is next to impossible to get to unless you have a flat bottom. Well fishing was tuff to say the least. It’s not uncommon to have several 20 plus pound sacs this time of year. The team of Shawn Wildt & Tommy Refro won 1st place with 5 fish that weighed 15.50 lbs. They went north with their flat bottom boat and caught their fish on Creature baits & Jigs. They also had Big Bass that weighed 6.88 lbs. Their total winnings was $1227.00. Coming in a very close 2nd was the father- son team Lance Eitel & Lance JR. with 5 fish that weighed 15.20 lbs. They caught their fish on Traps and won $459.00. Taking 3rd place was father- daughter team Tracy & David Pace. Their 5 fish weighed 11.14 lbs.,and earned them a check for $232.00. Our 1st place team out of the money was Randy Parks & Steve Terry they won the 2 Rod & Reel combo’s donated by Gander Mtn. Coming in 5th place and winning the $120.00 that we made off of the Friday night raffle was the husband and wife team Joey & Pam Ridgle. In all we had 17 teams to fish. This was the 1st of 5 tournaments that we fish to see who will earn the right to go to our Regional Championship Tournament on Oct. 25- 27 and fish for a new 18 ½ foot Skeeter Bass Boat powered by a 150 Yamaha.
Come and fish The Largest Team Series Tournament Trail in the Country as our Division travels to Lake Tyler on March 3,2012.
