With our 4th Tournament behind us now and only one to go, the point champion’s race is tightening up. So for we’ve had a different team to be point champs since 2005. This year looks no different. Robby Leach & Scott Jenkins would have to strike out next tournament to lose the lead. [I hope this doesn’t jink them].
We started off with our Friday night meeting at Nevilles Chapel Baptist Church. The Men’s Ministry Group fed us Hot Dogs & Chili and more homemade deserts than we could eat. We appreaciate them welcoming us into their Church. Bro. Al Baker brought the message from Proverbs 3:5-6. He told us we needed to trust in The Lord and He will direct us. We had 3 people to recommit their lives to Christ.
Saturday turned out to be a very warm and windy day, in fact the winners said they were fishing off of a point in open water and at times water was splashing over their bow! Mike Stroman & Aaron Walker said they didn’t mind dealing with the waves because the fish were biting good. They caught several limits on Jigs and Crank Baits in 17 to 25 ft of water. Their best 5 weighed 18.93 lbs. With a 7.01 as their kicker, they won $1156.00. The 2nd place team, Paul Furgerson & Ronnie Durrett said they were fishing with Jigs in the same depth of water and their best 5 weighed 15.26 lbs. They also had 2nd Big Bass that weighed 5.26 lbs. They took home $842.00. Coming in 3rd was Tom Ward & Dave Cahal. Their 5 fish weighed 13.41 lbs. They won $494.00. Placing 4th was David Rodgers & Gilbert Herald they won $281.00 with 5 fish that weighed 12.61 lbs. 5th Place was Terry Bradbery & Jeff Welch with 5 fish weighing 12.58. They won $291.00. We paid an extra place with the money we cleared from our Raffle. And Robby Leach & Scott Jenkins took that $211.00 check home with 5 fish that weighed 12.10 lbs.
We had 18 limits weighed in out of 26 teams.
Next month we go to Lake Palestine on May 19. This will be our final Tournament of the year, The C&R Service and Repair Invitational. Our anglers will be fishing for the extra $2,000.00 that They have kicked in. In order to be eligible you have to have fished at least 4 tournaments & attended 4 meetings as well.
