The North Carolina Piedmont Division of the Fishers Of Men kicked off the 2012 season on the waters of Belews Creek, northeast of Winston-Salem, on Saturday, March 10th, 2012.
The event began on Friday, March 9th, at the host church, Edgewood Baptist in Kernersville. The fellowship and the food was appreciated by all, as was the message that challenge each to leave a Godly legacy for those that are coming up behind us.
Saturday morning greeted the 38 teams to a chilly reception, but beautifully clear skies. Of course, we all know that clear skies behind a front means tough fishing, but all the teams that fished brought fish to the scales.
The first place team and taking home a check for $1,094.00 was the team of Jack Hardy and Ricky Goins with a five fish limit weighing 13.75 pounds. In second, was the team of Stephen Singleton and A.L. Needham with a limit weighing 12.06 pounds and netting a check of $776.25.
The third place team earning $480.00 was Jerryll Houck and Bobby Lovette with 11.65 pounds. In fourth, and taking home $507.50 was the team of Jarrett Freeze and Gary Freeze Sr.
Joel Richardson and Jeff Westmoreland captured fifth spot with a limit weighing 11.03 pounds and earned a check of $342.00. Sixth place was a tie, with the teams of Marty Nester and Joey Pack and Dave Snyder and Byron Odaniel each weighing 10.52 pounds.Nester and Pack had big Fish of 3.80. Nester and Pack took home $337.00 and Snyder and Odaniel took home $204.00 for their efforts. Second Big fish went to James “SMILEY” Allred and Larry Brickey of 3.66 pounds. Don’t know how they caught but it had a red tail. (wink)
In all, the 38 teams brought 146 bass to the scales weighing a total of 278.20 pounds. What a great opening weekend for the FOM NC Piedmont Division!
