Alabama Central held the first Friday night meeting of the 2012 season at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Clanton. Our director’s wife fed a crowd of 57 people a home cooked meal of roast pork, hash-brown casserole, baked beans, and banana pudding. Our program was presented by Todd Gantt and Gary Buchanan of First Baptist Church, Tallassee. They presented the gospel through guitar and song. They showed a video called “The Next Five Minutes”. It was very moving and made the point that we get so caught up in ourselves that we sometimes forget that we are here for a purpose. There is a lost and dying world all around us, what are we as believers doing to reach that world or to impact the needs of the people? Only believers can change the world for the better. Have you thought about what you will do with your next 5 minutes? As a result of the program, we had two recommitments.
Saturday morning dawned very overcast with a balmy 48 degrees and rain predicted for any moment. By mid-afternoon we had torrential rains with a cold wind. When our anglers arrived at the weigh-in all of them were dripping wet! But our faithful friend, David, had grilled hot dogs and cookies waiting for them. Our 20 teams brought 93 fish to the scale weighting in at 243.94 pounds. First place, second big fish and 1st bonus bucks went to the father/son team of Robert and Camryn Pairrett with 20.69 pounds. Their second big fish topped the scales at 6.18 lbs. Second place, 1st big fish at 6.58 lbs, and 2nd bonus bucks went to the team of Allen Yarborough/Shane Underwood with a total of 18.39 pounds. Third place & 3rd bonus bucks went to the team of Darrell Nix/Michael Clifton with 18.01 pounds.
