Has God put a Catfish in Your Tank? That was the question asked of us by our speaker, Pat Higgins, to start off our second Friday night meeting. She got our attention! Catfish in your tank keep you spiritually alert, on your toes, and dependent on the Lord. She told how God chose you and set you apart from this world and how you are not to be conformed to this world. She tied catfish to characteristics of worldly people and talked about believers being aliens in this world. A for associations, L for living peacefully, I for identity, E for engaged, and N for non-negotiable. All believers should have a catfish in their lives. Following the meeting people were discussing the catfish they had in their own lives or that they were in the lives of others. One angler even told us at the weigh-in that he woke up at 3 a.m. to the realization that he was his wife’s catfish and maybe he needed to work on that.

Alabama Central held the second Friday night meeting at Faith Temple, Alexander City. They fed the 52 people present a great meal of southern bar-b-q, baked beans, corn on the cob and cake.

Saturday morning dawned warm and humid with the day progressing to unseasonably hot weather which made the fishing difficult. Our 19 teams brought 86 fish to the scale weighing in at 153.92 pounds. First place and first big fish went to the team of Don Johnson/Harvey Starling with 12.35 lbs. First big bass weighed in at 4.92 lbs. Second place, 2nd big fish and 1st Bonus Bucks went to the male/female team of Rob and Lisa Griffith. They brought 12.19 lbs to the scale which included second big bass at 4.43 lbs. Third place & 2nd bonus bucks went to the team of Bryan Nichols and Phillip Till with 11.56 lbs. One of the anglers was heard to say he caught a catfish for Mrs. Pat!

Thanks to David and his son grilling hot dogs for our anglers and spectators to enjoy and to Mrs. Pat for the homemade cookies.

Jesus told his disciples, “If you were of the world, the world would love its own, yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore, the world hates you.” John 15:19
