We started our meeting singing “Happy Birthday” to our awesome director! Mt. Hebron West then fed our anglers a good home-style meal of poppy seed chicken over rice, green beans, and yeast rolls and we had birthday cake provided by the director’s children.
What Kind of Witness are You? Everyone’s life is a witness to something. Our speaker was Rev. Don Stephens pastor of Plantersville First Baptist Church. He told us the tale of the fishless fishermen. These men studied fishing, purchased the hottest current tackle and equipment, attended meetings to discuss fishing, but never put their hook in the water. He compared that to Christians who study the Bible, attend church, live good lives, but never share Christ with anyone. Christians are called to BE witnesses of Jesus Christ. There were 51 people present to hear this message.
Saturday morning dawned damp and humid with thunder showers warnings. However, the day progressed without any rain and the temperature quickly warmed. It was clean up on the river day and there were also two other tournaments being held so the waters were crowded and the fishing was difficult. Our 21 teams prevailed to bring 87 fish to the scale weighing in at 165.65 pounds. First place, first bonus bucks, and second big fish went to the team of Michael Hatten/Keith Phillips with 14.45 lbs. First big bass weighed in at 4.58 lbs. and was brought to the scale by the team of Rob/Lisa Griffith. Second place and 2nd bonus bucks went to the team of Jason Hopper/Eric Hutcheson. They brought 13.58 lbs. to the scale. Third place went to the team of Blake Parker/Harry Barton with 11.83 lbs. 4th place went to Andy Leslie/Grant Bennett with 11.06 lbs. Nichols/Till had 3rd bonus bucks.
