Broken reels was the topic of our speaker, Matt Higgins. He used visuals to make his points. He started by showing us a reel box and asking how many had an old, dirty, broken down reel. Then he compared that reel to us as sinners; we are dirty, broken, and hopeless, but God takes those parts and puts them back together like the brand new reel Matt held up. None of us are beyond God’s love. Matt went on to say that God loves us so much He doesn’t stop at creating a new reel or a new creation in us, but He blesses us beyond what we deserve by providing us with a whole brand new, top of the line rod which represented all the blessing He pours out on us to go with the new reel or the new creation He has made in us. There were 48 people present to hear this message. There were two decisions.

Alabama Central wants to thank Antioch Baptist Church in Columbiana for hosting our fourth Friday night meeting. They fed a crowd of 48 grilled hotdogs with all the trimmings. They have asked us to come back next year. They want to host us as a tribute to the memory of Jim Walker who passed away earlier this year. Jim was a long time member and supporter of Fishers of Men and this is his home church.

Saturday morning dawned cool with a small amount of fog. Due to heavy fishing pressure on the lake and fluctuating water levels our teams struggled to bring in a limit of good fish. A lot of the fish looked like they had been beaten and battered. Our 19 teams brought 79 fish to the scale weighing in at 150.35 pounds which is low for this lake. First place, first bonus bucks, and second big fish went to the team of Hopper/Hutcheson with 13.88 lbs. Second big fish weighed in at 4.29 lbs. Second place and 1st big fish went to the team of Parrott/Davis. They brought 12.93 lbs. to the scale including first big fish at 4.76 lbs. Third place went to the team of Barton/Parker with 11.64 lbs.

But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us!” Romans 5:8
