We finished out the 2012 season at Prattmont Baptist Church in Prattville, Al. Our program was presented by Kelly and Greg Pate. Kelly blessed our hearts with music and Greg spoke to us about obedience and loving the Master. Greg used his two dogs to illustrate his point. He talked about training them to retrieve. One dog runs all over the place and does not follow directions. The other dog sits at his master’s feet and watches his master for orders. This dog obeys, his focus is on doing the master’s will and he gets much joy from pleasing his master. Greg then compared this dog to the Christian life. Our focus should be on doing our Master’s will so that our lives are full of the Lord’s joy. There were 62 people present to hear this message.
Alabama Central wants to thank Prattmont Baptist Church for hosting and First Baptist Church Tallassee, Al. for feeding our participants. They fed us grilled pork tenderloin, tater salad, baked beans and camp stew. We were also blessed to have our regional director, Danny East, and his daughter, Lindzy with us. These two brighten the space around them wherever you see them! A special thank you to our grandson, Jacob, for pitching it and helping us with registration – good job!
Saturday morning dawned warm and clear and following a beautiful sunrise our 20 teams launched to the river. Due to unseasonal heat and fluctuating water levels our teams struggled to bring in a limit of good fish. Our teams brought 80 fish to the scale weighing in at 157.91 pounds. First place, first bonus bucks, and fish big fish went to the team of Hatten/Phillips with 13.54 lbs. including the big fish at 4.56 lbs. Second big fish weighed in at 4.28 lbs. and was caught by the father/son team of Brown/Brown. Second place and 2nd bonus bucks went to the team of Presley/Presley with 13lbs. Third place went to the team of Hopper/Hutcheson with 11.70 lbs. There was a four-way tie for 4th place at 10.58 lbs. teams Howell/Peyton and Sanders/Shirley split the 4th place pot. A very special thank you goes out to two teenagers who pitched in to help with the set-up and weigh-in. They did an awesome job, Hunter Buce and Jacob Buce!
The title for 2012 points champions was a close race between three teams, but when the dust settled our 2012 Points Champions were Michael Hatten and Keith Phillips. They were awarded checks totaling $495 and individual custom rods made for them by Walt Higgins. Congratulations!

Pat and I would like to thank our anglers for the nice card and gifts. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and we love you! At the end of each season we think it just can’t get any better, but this year’s volunteers, anglers, and families are the absolute best of the best!
