The “Iowa Division FOM Open Tournaments” come to an end with finish of this tournament.
Fishing was expected to a bit tought with the drought conditions we have been experiancing for the last several months, we find the lake a bit low and the water getting warm.
Once again we had hot dogs, chips and drinks at our weigh-in. Be sure to thank Scott Fisher and the folks at FarmLand Foods for the donation of the hot dogs and meat we have been eating all season long.
When the scales were closed we find 2 of the teams had found bags of fish weighing what we had seen this lake produce several years ago ... while our other teams brought in keepers but not the size needed to place in this tournament.
Finishing in first are Derik Dunton and Brodie Coughenour with a Big Bass of 6.87# and total weight of 20.36#, they impressed not only the director but most all the fishermen as well. This is the kind of weight needed to be competitive just a few years ago.
Winning 2nd place monies with another impresive bag weight of 19.03# are local fishermen Jon Gustafson and Nick Siepker.
After weigh-in director Jon said a few words taken from Jimmy Houston's daily "Catch of the Day" Lessons for Life about how the Lord is always there for those who ask his
guidance and protection.
We closed the season with our final 2nd Chance drawing.
