Our second stop of the 2012 VA West trail found us once again, at one of our favorite spots, beautiful Smith Mtn Lake. Our great friends at Radford Baptist Church hosted our Friday night event which included a fabulous meal, many great door prizes and an inspirational message that led one rededication!
As always, SML State Park was our launch site and they did a wonderful job of making us feel at home.
Nineteen boats blasted off in the cool, clear morning in search of tight lines and heavy bags – all of which were very thankful the wind from the previous day had departed.
All our teams made it back to the weigh in on time and safely with a total of 92 fish weighing over 215 lbs were weighed in.
The Adult/Jr (father/son) team of Mike & Troy Logan 17.3 lbs took top honors at the scales bringing in a very nice 5 alive at 22.61 lbs including the big bass of the day at 6.39 lbs. Congrats team Logan/Logan on a great victory!
ALL of our teams attended the Friday night meeting/event and earned 50 bonus pts towards their season total. (Reminder – the pts champs from each division will not only win the Pts Champ pot – they also win an auto berth into the 2012 national championship next spring.)
Mike & Troy have fished with FOM for years, including our Legacy Series and they call SML their “home water”. They reported catching their limit with a wide variety of lures.
Team Logan wish to thank the Good Lord for a good day, and for His creation of bass!
2nd place iwne to another Father/son team – Greg & Mike Sibold. They brought a very nice 15.49 lb sack to the scales.
3rd place was team Jamie Ford & Jim Curry. Their total 14.77 lbs.
4th place (Just Out Of The Money) went to Nathan Alt & Jeff Camp and they had 2nd Big Fish payout for the very nice 4.60 lb.
“Last place” (amongst teams who weighed in fish) went to the Male/female (husband/wife) team of Russell & Tanya
Both of these teams will get a shot at some very nice prizes at our next Friday night event.
We head to Claytor April 28 for our next tourney and our Fri night event will be hosted by our good friends at McCraw Insurance Agency. Thanks Tony & Penny!!!
