Mozingo -- FOM Results: Apr 21, 2012
We're off and running for the Iowa Division FOM Team tournaments for 2012.
Our meeting place for this tournament was the Nodaway County Senior Center in Maryville, MO. Pizza from the local Casey's was enjoyed by all with many of us consuming far too much...
A quick review of changes for the 2012 year was completed. Highlighting ... Raffling of 1st boat position and other prizes from our local sponsors; Plans for a dual division tournament at Okoboji in May.
Our message was presented by Pastor Gary and included a story of how in biblical times the master of the house would fold his napkin when needing to leave the table if he wasn't done with the meal and crumple and discard it if he were completed. Comparing the master’s napkin to the folded face cloth found in the empty tomb of the risen Christ, we come away knowing that he plans to return .... His job with us is not finished.
Tournament morning brought cold mid 40s temps but calm winds at launch .... The opening of our tournament day with all fishermen bowed in prayer on such a calm morning continues to be an awe inspiring vision I take away from these events. Winds were expected to increase throughout the day as yet another front moved through the area with threats of showers.... we missed the showers, but the winds were nearing 25mph at mid-morning, calming to a light breeze at weigh-in with partial sun .... warming all.... We can finally take off these heavy coveralls.
Lone fisherman Chris C. brought in a limit with the Big Kicker weighing in at 7.3# to take 1st Big Bass prize moneys. Chris Cs' attention to his surroundings targeted this fish when he noted a swirl in the water some 15 yards ahead of the boat while fishing the weedy shoreline. A quick pitch of his Senco type bait and the fish was hooked.
Local fishermen Chris J. and Tom, moving up from the Ozark division to fish the Iowa division found 5 heavier fish to win 2nd Big Bass and the tournament with a total weight of 20.50#. A real nice bag of fish!
The quick snack of hotdogs at weigh-in can be attributed to the generosity of FarmLand Foods and our local fisherman Scott. Thanks from all your fellow fishermen .... it help warm our bodies after the chilly time spent in the boats today.
Fishers of Men would like to thank all of our fine sponsors; Skeeter Boats, Yamaha, Stren, Pflueger, Strike King Lure Company, Nester Hosiery, Markel American Insurance, Marshall’s Marine, Power-Pole, Duckett Fishing, Buckeye Lures, Keelshield, Solar Bat, Jacobs Glass, Helly Hansen Workwear, and Rejuvenade.
I would like to publicly thank all the Iowa Division members for their continued support. With Special acknowledgement going to my un-official assistant Chris C., Pastor Gary and his partner Dan for all the extra time and efforts they provide with tournament tasks.
May God’s Blessing be with you,
Jon Andresen
