Johns Lake Results: Feb 4, 2012
The Florida Central Legacy Division of the Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail kicked off the season on Johns Lake in Clermont, FL. We had 11 teams who blasted off to an unseasonable warm 80 degree day. Despite being smaller in size to the likes of the St Johns, Toho and Harris Chains, Johns Lake can produce some heavy weights.
First place went to Brian Miller and Dalton Skat with a total weight of 13.54 lbs. Brian and Dalton casted swimbaits and did some sight fishing to catch their fish. Coming in second place was the team of Don and Ryan Fisher with 12.61 lbs. Don and Ryan used a variety of techniques including a shakey head to catch their limit. Jack Ehrhardt and Ron Lane took third with a total weight of 11.64 lbs. They fished the inside edges of the grass line for their catch. Big bass honors went to Kevin Lucas and Robert Anderson with a nice 6.17 lber and second big bass went to John and Trevor Brown with a nice 5.68 lber. Trevor’s got a knack for catching big bass on John’s lake. He had a 7 lber last year that stood for Big Bass of the Year. John and Trevor also won our “trash fish” award with a nice jack.
Our Friday meeting was hosted by Minneola Alliance Church. They always have the best meal of the year. This year it was Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Pastor Dustin Todd from Real Life Church challenged us to get on God’s side of Truth and read His Truth, the Bible. It’s like a tackle box with all of the greatest lures but useless unless we open it up.
Our next tournament will be on the Harris Chain where there are some monsters. Our meeting will be in Southpointe Baptist Church on US Hwy 27 on Friday night. Hope to see you there!
