East Tennessee Fishers of Men held its first event of the season on Norris Lake and once again Bethel Baptist Church was the host church and they always provide some of the best food a man can eat this side of heaven. Special Thanks to Pastor Taylor and all the people of the great church for taking care of the anglers. While we had an awesome church service with 3 rededications, the evening was bittersweet. Over the winter Bethel Baptist Church and E. TN Fishers of Men experienced the loss of our dear friend and brother in Christ, Larry Evans, who went home to be with the Lord. Brother Larry loved the Lord and our FOM ministry, always working to insure that we were well-fed and loved. In honor of this dear man, our Norris tournament will now be called “The Larry Evans Memorial Tournament.”

First place went to the Skeeter/Yamaha Pro Team of Benny Roberts and Todd Nidiffer. This skillful team came to the scales with a nice bag of fish that weighed in at 17.52 pounds. Todd and Benny had 4 smallmouth and one largemouth in the winning bag of fish. For their effort they won over $1200 and secure the lead in the point’s championship. This team is sponsored by Morristown Marine. They wanted to thank the Lord for a great day of fishing.

Second place went to the team of Michael Milton and Paul Sharp. Michael reported catching their fish on a grub off main lake points in 8 to 15 feet of water. This talented duo came to the scales with 17.21 pounds of smallmouth bass.

Third place went to Keith McDeerman and Von Dilbeck reported running up to the Powell River to catch their fish. Keith stated that they also used a grub in 12 to 15 feet of water to catch their mixed bag of fish which weighed in at 14.80 pounds. Keith and Von reported they focused on main lake points to catch their fish.

The Lunker of the tournament went to the team of Brian Jordan and Michael Smith. The 4.83 largemouth was caught on the Dixie Shaker Crankbait that this team helped design. This crankbait has been catching a boat load of fish since it hit the market back in the fall.
You can order these crankbaits from Dixie Custom Rods at their web-site www.dixiecustomrods.com.
