Fishers of Men held its fourth tournament on Fort Loudoun and Tellico Lakes on May 19th. Kingston Pike Baptist Church was the host church for this event. This church always does a great job of making the fishermen feel at home and the ladies cook up some great food. And after the eating is done Pastor Ronny Jones always provides a few funny stories before he provides food for the soul. Ronny delivered a great message entitled “How is your faith?” and we had one that rededicated.
Special thanks to all the church members who help with the Fishers of Men.

Saturday morning came with over cast skies that later gave way to bluebird skies and light wind. With water temperatures in the 80s and most of the fish moving to deep water, most people knew it was going to be a tough tournament where every bite would count.

The seasoned team of Kenny Bishop and Ed Kyte came to the scales with a nice bag of bass that weighed-in at 13.09 lbs. to give the win. This bag also included the lunker of the tournament a 4.73 pound largemouth Kenny and Ed reported fishing main lake structure focusing on spots in 15 to 17 feet of water. They reported using several different lures to catch their fish such as a spinnerbait, crankbait, and Carolina rig. Kenny reported that they only caught five keeper bass during the tournament but at least it was the five right keepers. It was reported that Ed caught a huge catfish but no photos were shown to prove it. For the win they take home over $1200. Great job guys!

Second place went to Skeeter Yamaha Pro Benny Roberts and Todd Nidiffer with four largemouth and one smallmouth bass. Their total weight for this mixed bag of bass hit the scales at 11.84 lbs. Benny reported running his Yamaha powered Skeeter boat all over Fort Loudoun Lake junk fishing. This versatile team caught fish on top water, swimbait and even a Carolina rig fish from 1 to 20 feet deep. This team is sponsored by Morristown Marine, Skeeter, and Yamaha.

Third place went to the colorful team of Roy Smith and Ray Jordan. These two men are the fathers of the Brian Jordan and Michael Smith who just won the Fishers of Men Nationals and a $70,000 Yamaha Skeeter package at Pickwick Lake last month. Let it be known that Roy and Ray put it on their boys when ever they can. As a matter of fact, Ray let it be known after the weigh-in that they had beat their sons again! Ray and Roy had there day shorted by battery problems and were forced to come in early but even with the shorted hours still had 9.05 pounds of bass. Roy and Ray reported catching there fish on swinbait and big worm focusing on main lake brush piles.

Fourth Place went to the team of Randy Fain and DR. Ronny Jones who caught 8.77 lbs of bass. This skillful team was tight lipped about where and how they caught their fish because they are fishing the Legacy event on Fort Loudoun this coming weekend. However Ronny has reported catching fish on a green walnut.

White Pine Marine owners Kenny and Ray Sexton had a tie for second lunker with points leader Mark and Matt Heidel. Both teams came in with a largemouth that weighed in at 4.01 lbs. The Heidel are still leading the points, but the points race is going to come down to the last event with just 6 point separating the top 3 spots.
