A WINDY DAY TO BE OUTSIDE FISHING IN GODS WONDERFUL
OUTDOORS

Fishers of Men, Alabama South held their first tournament of 2012 on February 25, 2012. The Friday night meeting was held at the First Presbyterian Church of Bay Minette, AL. There were 34 present for the meeting and all 18 teams that fished were represented. For the meal we had Little Caesars pizza, salad, tea, and for desert we had homemade cakes. Thank you Sharon and Karen for fixing the cakes. Also a very special Thank You to First Presbyterian church for allowing us to use their facility to have our meeting. Our message was brought to us by Jerry Aaron. He spoke to us from several verses from John and from Luke. The question raised is whether or not Jesus was a lunatic or the real son of God. What he said he would do, he did and the miracles he performed could not have been done by a normal man, therefore he was and is the Real Son of God. Thank You Jerry for pointing out to us that Jesus is the one and only true son of God and the only way to get to Heaven.
Saturday morning dawned with the temperatures not being as low as they had predicted, which was a good thing as the wind made up for the difference. The 18 boats blasted off without a problem and went on their way to fish. At the end of the day from what I heard in comments made by some of the fisherman I would have to say the Delta might be on a comeback. I heard several say they caught a lot of short fish. There were 15 limits brought to the scales with a total of 81 fish weighed in for a total weight of 122.24 Lbs. Congratulations to the team of Eddie Davis, Jr. and Eddie Davis, Sr. They weighed in 5 fish to take first place. Those fish weighed 9.57 Lbs. Congratulations to the team of Sammy Thomas and Lavon White. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 9.29 Lbs. to take second place. Congratulations to the team of James Purvis and Kenny Smith. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 8.94 to take third place. With 18 boats we only paid 3 places. Congratulations to the team of Wayne and Lisa Cox. They weighed in the first big fish that weighed 3.50 Lbs. Congratulations to the team of Larry Bullock and Roger Caldwell. They weighed in the second big fish that weighed 2.60 Lbs. Considering how muddy the water was and how windy it was it was a good catch for the Delta as well as encouraging for the numbers to be coming back up for the bass.
The Davis’s said they caught their fish on shallow running crank baits and chatterbaits. Sammy Thomas and Lavon White said they caught their fish on shakey heads, shallow crank baits, lizards, spinnerbaits, and deep running crankbaits. James Purvis and Kenny Smith caught their fish in spinner baits, and crank baits. Lisa Cox said she let Wayne catch the big fish on a black and blue jig, but she had more quantity of fish than his quality. Larry Bullock and Roger Caldwell caught their big fish on a red crank bait.
