Another beautiful Spring day to be outside in Gods Great Outdoors

Fishers of Men, Alabama South held their third team event on April 28, 2012 in Camden, Alabama at Ellis Landing. The Friday night meeting again this year was hosted by Camden Baptist Church. As always they did a great job. They fed us Bar B Que, baked beans, cole slaw rolls and for desert, Bread Pudding. They really did it up right and we appreciate all they do for us each year. Bob Weber the pastor brought our message Friday night and wore his Cleveland Indians shirt since he is originally from Cleveland and he knew many of us were going to have on our fishing shirts. He talked to us about the things our dads taught us or should have taught us as we were growing up. He had many funny stories as his dad always told him to not start a fight, but he sure better finish it if someone else started it. His dad always told him to keep his guard up as you never knew what lay ahead. We can’t teach what we don’t know and we need to be teaching our children about God. Without him in our lives we are going to lead a very unhappy life and our everlasting life will not be any better. Through our Lord and Saviour our life after death will be with our Lord in Heaven. AMEN. Thank you brother Bob for reminding us as Fathers what we should be doing. Friday night we had 55 at the meeting with 22 teams fishing on Saturday. 19 teams were represented at the meeting on Friday night. We did not have any first time decisions, but we had 3 that rededicated their lives to our Lord. Saturday morning was clear as it could be and the stars were shining everywhere. With many other tournaments in Camden this weekend we tried to get out to the landing extra early so we could get everyone checked in and in the water. Having to idle out to the river now is about a 15 minute time frame. Around 5:45 I called the official time and began blasting the boats off. If not for the breeze that began to blow it could have been like a July day instead of the last weekend in April. Congratulations to the team of Lance Youngblood and Dale Westmoreland. Dale could not fish this weekend so Lance had it on his shoulders and he did a good job. He brought in 5 fish that weighed 13.90 Lbs. with the first big fish that weighed 5.21 Lbs. He came in a little early which is unusual. Saturday was 6 years ago that his mother passed away and he said he had been talking with her off and on all day. He had 4 fish and told his mother he really needed a big fish. Within minutes he caught the 5.21 lunker. He caught all of his fish on a jig, and since there is not but one kind of jig it was a black and blue one. Congratulations to the team of Wayne and Lisa Cox. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 12.49 Lbs. to take 2nd place. They caught their fish flipping plastics and white trick worms. Congratulations to the team of Donnie and Bryan Moye. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 12.24 Lbs. to take 3rd place. They caught their fish on swimming jigs. Congratulations to the team of Bobby Cox and James Richerson. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 12.05 lbs. to take 4th place. They caught their fish on shakeyheads and frogs. Congratulations to the team of Lavon White and Sammy Thomas. They weighed in the 2nd big fish that weighed 4.06 Lbs. They caught it on a shakeyhead. There were a total of 79 fish brought to the scales that weighed a total of 135.96Lbs. Normally for this time of the year the number of fish would be well over 100 and the weight closer to 200Lbs. The fishing has been strange in Camden this year. Who knows what is going on. Our next tournament will be our second Legacy event and it will be fished out of Cliffs landing in Baldwin county and the Friday night meeting is being hosted by Stockton First Baptist Church.
