A HOT, BUT BEAUTIFUL DAY TO BE OUTSIDE IN GODS GREAT OUTDOORS
Alabama South held their fifth and final tournament of 2012 on Saturday June 23, 2012. The Friday night meeting was hosted by Thomaston Baptist Church again this year and as usual Ms Camilla and Frank did a great job. They fed us Chicken Spaghetti and Lasagna, with salad, bread, tea and soft drinks to drink and cakes baked by Ms. Camillas mother. They always do a great job and was again successful this year. Thank you so much for all you do. Before we ate, Mitzi Gates sang several songs for us again this year and as always she blessed our hearts with the messages she brought in song and prepared us for supper as well as the message Brother Barkley Brooks would bring to us. Currently they have an Interim Pastor. Brother Barkley Brooks is their Interim and he brought our message. He spoke to us on something we are all familiar with. Being Fishers of Men. However he did so from a different passage to the one we are normally accustom to hearing. Unlike Matthew 4:19, he spoke from Mark 1:17. He told us that the the verse has 3 parts. The first is the Command. FOLLOW ME. The second is the Promise. MAKE YOU FISHERS OF MEN. The third is the Process. TO BECOME FISHERS OF MEN. Thank you Brother Barkley for reminding us that we all should be FISHERS OF MEN. We had no first time professions of faith and had one rededication. There were approximately 40 people at the meeting with all 14 teams represented that night. Saturday morning was as clear as it could be and already letting us know it would be a hot day. As soon as it was safe light we had our prayer and started blasting the boats off so that they could get started. By lunch time it was already getting very hot and the breeze at best was off and on. There were 11 limits brought to the scales with a total of 55 fish weighted in. Several of the teams turned their fish loose before they came in since they knew they did not have enough to matter. The total weight for the day was 103.55 Lbs. Congratulations to the team of Sammy Thomas and Lavon White. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 12.72 Lbs. to take 1st. place. They also had 2nd. Big fish that weighed 3.21. Taking 1st place also secured the Points Champions spot for Alabama South. They have come close several times, but this year they closed the deal. They caught their fish on crank baits, shakey heads, and Carolina rigs in 6 ft. of water or so. Congratulations to the team of Larry and David Foshee. They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 11.44 Lbs. to take 2nd. Place. Congratulations to the team of Dale Westmoreland and Lance Youngblood. They weighed in the 1st. Big fish that weighed 4.08 Lbs.
