Raystown Results: Mar 31, 2012
The 2012 season got underway at Raystown Lake, in Huntingdon this past weekend. It all started off with our Friday night meeting being held at our long time friends, the Huntingdon CMA church. The girls from the church, once again, provided a wonderful meal for our anglers and family members to enjoy. This is five years of teaming up with these ladies, and for five years, it has been a huge blessing. 60 members and guests enjoyed the food and fellowship. 33 teams were represented at the meeting. Our guest speaker for the evening was one of our own veteran anglers, Dan Peterman. Dan took the opportunity to bring in his own brush pile, and flipping stick with a jig attached, to explain to us how when we are trying to lure that bass to bite, that we too, are often like that bass, and bite Satan’s lure. That he knows exactly what we like, and tries everything he can, every angle he can, to get us to bite his lies. Dan was quick to remind us that the only way we will ever be able to tell the difference between Satan’s lure of death, and the lure of life, is to get into the word of God, and to allow Christ to be Lord in our lives. He made one statement that had many of us thinking. We all know Jesus is the best “Fisher of Men” there ever will be, but the fact is, Satan is second best, and that we all need to know the truth in order to tell the difference between which lure sits in front of you. Dan is no stranger to filling live wells, and Friday night, was no different. We had two individuals added into God’s live well, as they accepted Jesus as their Lord that night. His message also moved 4 others to recommit to follow Christ in all areas of their lives. Thanks Dan, for stepping up and sharing what God put on your heart to share with us.
The next morning, boat check and blast off got underway just before 7am. Temps in the mid 40’s at launch and warming to high 50’s and cloudy at weigh in.
It’s always nice to have new teams fishing with us, and it makes things extra interesting when a new team tops the leader board at the end of the day, as the new team of Chris Foley and Nate Lesko took top honors with 17.62 lbs, with a 5.18 LM lunker anchoring their bag. Not far behind was the 2011 points champions, Chris Lanager and Jamie Ferdarko taking second place with 17.07 lbs. Third place and 2nd lunker for the day was the Rice brothers, Mark and Jacob with 16.54 lbs. Nick Stapleton and Doug Savino made sure the live wells in Doug’s new boat were working well, taking 4th place with 14.61 lbs. Sam Fulmer and Dave Altman took 5th place with 13.04 lbs and rounding out the paying positions in 6th place was the team of Randy Rawlings and Metz Weko with 12.03 lbs.
Nice job everyone !
Our next event will be on June 23rd, at Sayers Lake.
