Curwensville Lake Results: Sep 8, 2012
Pa’s last regular season event for the year was held at Curwensville Lake, in Clearfield County.
Our Friday night meeting was held at a pavilion at Irwin Park, close to the lake. 26 teams were represented at the meeting Friday night. Everyone enjoyed pizza and pasta salad. I would like to thank Pat Naugle for helping with the meal arrangements.
Our speaker for the night was our very own Ryan Graham. Ryan brought a message about storms and walked us through the bible with a few examples of how “storms of life” were handled from a few that called on Jesus to help get them through. Ryan reminded us that we all have access to Christ’s saving power, mercy and grace if we allow Jesus to be Lord of our lives. Thanks brother Ryan for a great message. We had one person accept Christ into their lives Friday night, and 5 others recommit to follow Him in all areas of their lives.
The next morning everyone was underway at approx 6:45, in hunt for a mixed bag. Curwensville Lake, at best, is a decent fishery, but typically only in the early spring or late fall. Expectations were not high going into this last event, on a body of water that can make you a hero or feel like a zero so easily. And it proved to be tough for some that know the water well.
As teams started coming in, it was apparent that it was extremely tough. There were only two limits brought to the scales. And in the end, Dan Peterman’s dig in and never give up mentality gave him the winning sack with 9.90 lbs. To make it even more of an accomplishment, Dan had to fish this event by himself, as his normal partner was out of town. Nice job Dan, for your first place finish. Dave and Erica Kindelberger, AKA…the king and queen of Curwensville, were sure to make their presence known, as they took second only one pound behind, with 8.90 lbs. Bob and Nick Mayhew brought in only three fish, but they were good ones, and were hot on the heals of the 1st and 2nd place teams who had the only two limits. Bob and Nick’s three fish gave them the third spot with 8.51 lbs. Jim and George Holencik took home 4th place honors with 7.79 lbs and big fish for the day at 3.72 lbs. Chris Lanager and Jamie Ferdarko were able to scratch up 4 keepers to get them a 5th place finish with 7.24 lbs.
Chris and Jamie’s 5th place finish was just enough to move them one point past the points leaders of Mark and Jacob Rice for the 2012 points championship. Chris and Jamie will be receiving plaques, jackets and some cash for their efforts, and now have an automatic birth to the national championships in May 2013.
Great job to everyone this year.
19 teams will be preparing for the East Regional Championship to be held at Lake Erie in two weeks.
So until next season, thanks to all who fished with us this year. I had a great time serving you. I look forward to seeing all of you next year.
