Team David Wins at Lake Shelbyville
The Illinois Central Fishers of Men Legacy Bass Tournament Series held the second tournament for the 2012 season on Lake Shelbyville June 23rd. The pre-tournament meeting Friday evening was held at Jonathan Creek Christian Church of Sullivan (IL). Greg McLain, member of Jonathan Creek Christian Church and sometime lay pastor spoke on anchoring in the Lord, just like a boat in high winds or high current unless we have an anchor in our lives we drift aimlessly. Anchoring lives in the Lord gives us direction. The meal was served by ladies of the church ( as well as several men) and when I say served it was set down we’ll bring food to you. Even enjoyed cookies and ice cream. Teams were reminded that entries for the National Championship to be held on Lake Pickwick in Alabama July 27 & 28 must be into the national office by July 16th
Even though it was not raining (11 of the last 12 tournaments it has rained) most teams brought fish to the scales. The team of David Hudspath & David Puyear to win first place as well as big bass. David Hudspath even admitted the his youth angler David Puyear caught the two big fish of their four fish bag that weighed total of 10.40 pounds with their big bass weighing 4.04 pounds. This secured them a $291.00 paycheck. The second place team was father-son team of Jason & Nathan Doty who had five fish weighing in at 8.15 pounds and earning them a $135.00 paycheck for the day. The second big bass award went to another father-son team of Nick and Tyson Kime with a big bass that weighed 3.37 pound and a $16.00 for Tyson’s first ever fishing tournament.
Special award went to division photographer Kevin Sesko who gets up before the sun and comes out to take pictures at the takeoff as well as during the weigh-in. Then he edits and post the pictures on Facebook for all to see.
Illinois Central Fishers of Men Legacy next tournament will be July 14th at Wolf Creek State Park on Lake Shelbyville with the Friday evening meeting to be held at Solid Rock Chapel, 1213 E Jackson, Sullivan, IL.
