Lake Oconee Results: Feb 11, 2012
We were welcomed by Cornerstone Church for our first tournament of the year, with open arms. The church provided us with a wonderful meal of hamburgers and hotdogs, as well as all the trimmings, including some great cheescake!! Pastor Terry Richardson gave us an inspiring message of "swimming up stream." Many times in our walk with Jesus it will be tough, there will be waterfalls, lures and even "BEARS" that we should move away from in order to reach our intended purpose. A special thanks goes to Mark Smith and Matt Alexander for providing the crowd with wonderful door prizes!!!
Saturday morning brought us a chilling temparture of 39 degrees. As the anglers set out to bag a good sack, many were wondering how much the wind was going to blow. BOY, didn't that wind blow, by weigh in time, the winds were sustained at 26 mph with gusts close to 40. All teams managed to catch fish, however, one was not able to make it back to the ramp in time due to engine trouble. Leading the way was the steady team of Burns/Burns, bringing in 18.01 to the scales. Second place was a newcomer team of Jackson/Wicks weighing in 12.70. Rounding out the top three was the team of Barber/Barber, tipping the scales at 12.67. A tip of the hat goes to the team of Healan/Dunahoo for their big fish, a 5.13 beauty.
We would like to encourage all to join us at Lake Lanier for our second stop of the season, the event will take place on March 3. We will be going out of Balus Creek.
